Job Title: Business Development Executive
Employment Type: Full time, Permanent
Job Location: Remote within the UK or Cambridge
Offered Salary and Variable Pay: £67,500 OTE
Are you looking to build a career in software sales and seeking for an opportunity to build the experience you have already gained? We are looking for an ambitious, commercially minded person who is early-in-their-career to join the VertiGIS UK sales team.
You don't need to be an expert in geospatial technology, we're more interested in your ability to communicate, build relationships, learn quickly and understand what customers need. If this sounds like you, and you have a couple of years of experience in technical sales, Pre-Sales or GIS, then we would love to hear from you.
Our sectors are growing at pace, and we have decided to bring in someone with a couple of years’ experience in the real world. You'll work alongside experienced sales and technical colleagues who will help you develop the skills and experience needed to build a successful career in software sales.
If you think you have what it takes, then contact us to set up a conversation.
The Role
Your focus will be on our existing customers. You’ll build strong customer relationships, understand their business challenges, manage software renewals and identify opportunities where VertiGIS technology and services we can provide additional value.
This is not primarily a new-business or "hunter" role. Instead, you’ll focus on developing and growing existing accounts through thoughtful account mining, manage your sales pipeline, identifying upsell opportunities and making sure our customers continue to get value from working with us.
As your experience develops there will also be opportunities to win new business and build your own pipeline.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Some experience in technical sales, solution sales, account management, pre-sales or a similar customer-facing commercial role.
An interest in technology and an ability to understand technical products and solutions.
The confidence to build relationships and have commercially focused conversations with customers.
A natural curiosity and willingness to ask questions to understand what customers really need.
An interest in developing existing accounts and spotting opportunities to provide additional solutions or services.
Good organisation skills and the ability to manage multiple customers, opportunities and renewal dates.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
A collaborative approach and willingness to work with technical specialists and professional services teams.
The initiative and ambition to develop your own commercial skills and, over time, explore new-business opportunities.
Experience within GIS, geospatial technology, software, SaaS or another technical environment would be useful, but we’re equally interested in people with a strong technical-sales foundation who are keen to learn.
