Team Overview
The Business Development Executive, Mortgage, will help expand TransUnion's market presence and drive broader adoption of core credit solutions, identity, fraud, marketing, and related capabilities across lenders and brokerages.
This role combines industry leadership, strategic relationship development, and consultative selling. It will focus on developing new opportunities, expanding engagement with existing clients, improving lender and broker coverage, and supporting TransUnion's continued growth in the mortgage ecosystem, including opportunities enabled by file sharing.
This is a remote position which may require occasional in-person attendance at work-related events at the discretion of management.
Role Overview And Core Responsibilities
- Support and execute a playbook for the Canadian mortgage broker channel, aligned with TransUnion's secured-lending strategy.
- Develop and maintain senior relationships with broker networks, brokerages, mortgage technology platforms, monoline lenders, and other strategic industry participants.
- Act as a visible TransUnion representative at relevant industry events, forums, and client engagements, bringing market insight back into the organization.
- Identify and advance new business and cross-sell opportunities across core credit solutions, identity, fraud, marketing, and related solutions.
- Translate client and industry challenges into differentiated value propositions and coordinated solution strategies.
- Develop account and opportunity strategies in partnership with core sales, client success, product, product marketing, legal, and other internal stakeholders.
- Support expansion following the implementation of file sharing by increasing awareness, engagement, and adoption across the broker and lender ecosystem.
- Build and maintain a strong opportunity pipeline, provide accurate forecasts, and maintain timely and complete records in Salesforce CRM.
- Lead or support complex commercial discussions and negotiations, coordinating the appropriate internal resources through to close and implementation.
- Monitor market, competitive, regulatory, and technology developments affecting the mortgage industry and recommend actions to strengthen TransUnion's position.
- Anticipate changes in client and market needs and respond quickly with appropriate internal alignment and action.
- Collaborate across the Canadian organization to ensure a high level of teamwork, clear ownership, and consistent execution against business goals.
Required Knowledge And Experiences
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in sales, business development, strategic partnerships, or solution consulting within financial services, mortgage lending, credit information, or a related sector.
- Deep understanding of the Canadian mortgage industry, including the broker channel, broker networks, mortgage technology platforms, monoline lenders, and other secured-lending participants.
- Established relationships and credibility within the Canadian mortgage broker and lending ecosystem, with the ability to represent TransUnion as an industry-facing leader.
- Proven track record of building strategic partnerships and engaging at the executive level, including experience navigating complex organizations and identifying decision-makers and influencers.
- Strong major-account experience in a matrix environment, with the ability to coordinate internal teams and advance opportunities from strategy through execution.
- Proven client engagement skills, including prospecting, relationship building, consultative selling, deal development, negotiation, and closing business.
- Experience translating industry needs and client challenges into clear commercial opportunities and compelling value propositions.
- Strong knowledge of credit decisioning, fraud, identity, marketing, and communications solutions relevant to lenders, brokerages, networks, and mortgage technology providers.
- Experience with value-based selling methodologies using business outcomes, ROI, and total cost of ownership rather than relying primarily on product features or price.
- Strong analytical and strategic-thinking skills, with the ability to interpret market dynamics, identify growth opportunities, and prioritize initiatives.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with an articulate, persuasive, and engaging style suited to executive, industry, and client audiences.
- Experience supporting complex commercial and legal negotiations.
- General understanding of the evolving Canadian regulatory environment and its application to mortgage lending, consumer credit, privacy, fraud prevention, and identity verification is an asset.
- Willingness to travel purposefully to support client engagement, industry events, and strategic partnerships.
The expected pay range for this position is $131,000 - $163,000 annually. The pay information provided for this position reflects a reasonable estimate of the range of expected compensation for this job. At TransUnion, actual compensation is based on careful consideration of many factors such as (but not limited to) an individual’s education, training, work experience, job related skill set, location, and industry knowledge, as well as the scope and responsibilities of the position and market considerations. In addition, variable compensation is based on applicable company guidance and plan documents as well as performance.
