Business Development Manager – Estate Agency / PropTech
Location: Remote – UK
Salary: £35,000 basic + uncapped commission
OTE: circa £70,000–£75,000
Hours: Monday to Friday
Travel: Minimal – occasional client meetings and quarterly team meet-ups
I’m working with a growing supplier to the UK estate agency sector that is looking to add another Business Development Manager to its sales team.
This is a proper new-business sales role.
They’re looking for someone who is comfortable picking up the phone, creating opportunities from scratch and turning a cold conversation into a meeting, demo and ultimately a new client.
The business is still relatively small, but it’s growing quickly. The sales team currently consists of four people and there is scope for several further hires as they scale, so this is a good opportunity to join at a point where you can genuinely make an impact.
The role
You’ll be responsible for managing the full sales journey, from initial prospecting through to closing the deal and supporting the client during their first few months.
Day to day, you’ll be:
Cold calling is a significant part of this role, so it needs to be something you’re comfortable with.
Equally, this isn’t about simply hammering through a call list. The product has a few moving parts and the strongest performers will be people who can understand a client’s business, tell a compelling story and clearly explain why the platform is relevant to them.
Who they’re looking for
Ideally, you’ll have worked within estate agency or the wider residential property sector and understand how agencies operate.
You don’t necessarily need years of PropTech experience. In fact, someone who has worked as an estate agent and subsequently moved into a sales or business development role could be a particularly strong fit.
You’ll need to be:
People coming from high-activity sales environments such as recruitment, call-centre sales or other phone-led B2B roles will also be of interest, particularly if you have some exposure to estate agency.
The role is completely UK-wide, and candidates based outside London are actively encouraged to apply.
Package
Basic salary: £35,000
Commission: Uncapped, with realistic additional earnings of up to circa £40,000
You’ll also receive:
Due to the seasonality of the estate agency market, some annual leave is required to be taken over the Christmas period.
Why consider it?
For the right salesperson, there’s quite a lot to like here.
You’ll have the freedom of a genuinely remote role, a strong uncapped commission structure and a product aimed at an industry you already understand.
More importantly, you’ll be joining while the sales function is still being built rather than walking into a huge, heavily layered sales organisation.
They want people who can sell, contribute ideas and grow with the business — and there is genuine opportunity for progression as the team expands.
Interview process
The process is fully remote and straightforward.
Stage one: Approximately 40-minute video interview with the Sales Director, covering your background, motivations and approach to sales.
Stage two: Interview with the Sales Director and another senior member of the business, including a practical pitch exercise.
You’ll be given temporary access to the platform beforehand and asked to prepare a pitch to a fictitious two-office estate agency.
They’re not expecting you to know everything.
They want to see how quickly you understand the product, how you structure a sales conversation and whether you can make a compelling commercial case.
