Show job description
At LMI Technologies, we are seeking an experienced, proactive, and technically skilled Business Development Manager (BDM) – 2D Smart Vision to spearhead our commercial expansion into the 2D smart camera and machine vision market across the Americas. Reporting directly to the Regional Development Manager – Americas, this role is a strategic growth driver focused on establishing a strong footprint for LMI’s 2D smart sensor solutions.

In this role, you will combine an assertive technical hunting mindset with hands-on application expertise. Leveraging LMI’s unified Gocator® platform and on-board GoPxL® software, you will aggressively target new accounts, execute live technical proof-of-concept demonstrations directly at customer facilities, and partner closely with our regional 3D sales team to uncover cross-selling and multi-sensor opportunities.
  • Strategic Business Development & Market Penetration
    • Prospect, qualify, and secure new direct customer accounts across primary target verticals, including automotive, consumer electronics, packaging, food & beverage, logistics, and medical device manufacturing.
    • Execute high-activity outbound prospecting campaigns ("hunting") while promptly qualifying and converting high-intent inbound leads into active pipeline opportunities.
    • Map greenfield accounts, identify key engineering and procurement decision-makers, and communicate LMI's unique 2D smart camera value proposition.
    • Secure multi-sensor, medium-to-large annual volume deployment agreements while maintaining rapid sales cycles for smaller specialized applications.
  • Hands-On Technical Demonstrations & Feasibility Evaluations
    • Conduct direct, on-site technical product demonstrations using portable 2D smart vision kits, lighting, optics, and inspection hardware.
    • Connect, mount, and configure 2D smart vision hardware and GoPxL® software directly at customer production lines to validate project feasibility and prove application capabilities in real time.
    • Solve front-line application challenges independently; partner with Field Application Engineers (FAEs) on complex toolchain configurations, advanced custom scripting, and AI-driven image analysis.
    • Bridge commercial discussions with practical engineering evaluations to significantly compress customer evaluation cycles.
  • Territory Synergy, Channel Collaboration & Team Enablement
    • Develop, execute, and adapt territory business plans across the Americas in response to regional market dynamics and competitor positioning.
    • Serve as the resident 2D subject matter expert, coaching and enabling regional Area Sales Managers to identify, cross-sell, and position 2D solutions within their existing 3D accounts.
    • Collaborate strategically with distribution partners, certified system integrators (SIs), and OEMs to drive recurring business while preserving channel alignment.
    • Provide continuous voice-of-customer (VoC) feedback to Product Management, R&D, and Marketing to influence future product roadmaps and GoPxL® feature development.
  • Commercial Pipeline Execution & Forecasting
    • Manage the complete B2B sales lifecycle from initial cold outreach, qualification, and on-site proof-of-concept to commercial proposals, contract negotiations, and closing.
    • Maintain rigorous hygiene in CRM (Salesforce) with up-to-date opportunity stages, account notes, revenue forecasts, and competitive intelligence.
    • Represent LMI Technologies at key trade shows, industry conferences, and technical workshops across North America.
Education and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Physics, or equivalent technical sales experience.
  • 3+ years of documented success in B2B technical sales or business development within industrial machine vision (2D smart cameras, optics, industrial lighting), factory automation, robotics, or industrial sensing.
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding aggressive individual sales targets and quota metrics.
  • Technical & Commercial Skills:
    • Hands-On Vision Aptitude: Ability to set up, mount, focus, wire, and configure 2D smart cameras, lenses, lighting, and vision software on-site for customer proof-of-concepts.
    • Proactive Hunter Mentality: Highly disciplined in outbound prospecting, cold calling, networking, and navigating complex plant floor and corporate hierarchy decision-makers.
    • Consultative Value Selling: Proven capability to translate technical camera specifications into measurable manufacturing ROI (yield improvement, scrap reduction, throughput efficiency).
    • Communication: Exceptional presentation, demonstration, and negotiation skills in English (written and verbal); proficiency in Spanish is a strong asset.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and valid passport.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% throughout the Americas region for customer site visits, live trials, and trade shows.
  • Self-disciplined and equipped to operate independently from a home-based office with high accountability.
Perks and Benefits
  • Competitive Total Compensation: Highly competitive base salary paired with an uncapped, performance-driven sales incentive and commission structure.
  • Health & Wellness: Comprehensive health coverage options for you and your dependents.
  • Work-Life Integration: Generous paid time off (PTO), paid statutory holidays, and dedicated personal/sick days.
  • Remote Office Enablement: Company-provided laptop, mobile phone allowance, internet reimbursement, and demonstration equipment kit.
  • Growth & Professional Development: Continuous training on cutting-edge optical and AI technologies, tuition reimbursement programs, and clear pathways for career advancement across TKH Group operating companies.
  • Innovative Culture: An open, collaborative environment working alongside industry-leading engineers and commercial innovators shaping the future of industrial automation.
