Citizens Bank is executing a multi-year transformation of its retail branch network, shifting toward a performance-driven, growth-oriented distribution model and investing in branch reformats, refreshes, closures, de novos, staffing models, and operating-hour changes.
The Business Analyst, Branch Network Distribution will support the reporting, analytics, experimentation, and impact measurement used to understand network performance and evaluate whether branch actions are delivering their intended outcomes. The analyst will work with more experienced team members to prepare data, build recurring reporting, conduct structured analyses, and translate findings into clear business insights.
This is a hands-on developmental role for an early-career analyst who is eager to build technical, analytical, and business skills while supporting visible priorities across Distribution Transformation, Retail Banking, Marketing, Finance, and the Consumer Bank.
Key Responsibilities
Network Performance Reporting & Insights
Support the development and maintenance of reporting and dashboards that measure branch network performance using leading and lagging indicators.
Prepare performance views across banker, branch, market, and enterprise levels to support day-to-day management and longer-term decisions.
Analyze trends, risks, and opportunities and summarize findings for review by senior team members and business partners.
Branch Action Analytics & Impact Measurement
Support analyses that measure the results of branch network actions, including reformats, refreshes, closures, de novos, staffing changes, and changes to operating hours.
Assess outcomes across customer behavior, productivity, financial performance, and growth using established analytical approaches.
Help account for factors such as market conditions, seasonality, and overlapping initiatives, with guidance from experienced analysts.
Experimentation & Test-and-Learn Support
Assist in developing pilots and tests with clear objectives, success measures, comparison groups, and evaluation plans.
Prepare analyses that help determine whether an initiative should be expanded, refined, or discontinued.
Document methods, assumptions, and results so conclusions are transparent and repeatable.
Physical Network Marketing Value Analysis
Support analysis of the branch network as a customer acquisition, relationship-deepening, and brand asset.
Help assess how branch presence, format, and investment relate to customer behavior across channels and over time.
Partner with Marketing, Finance, and Distribution colleagues to incorporate relevant data into growth and investment analyses.
Data Preparation & Analytical Execution
Build working knowledge of branch, banker productivity, customer, marketing, and financial data.
Use SQL and tools such as Alteryx, or equivalent tools, to source, cleanse, join, and prepare analytical datasets.
Complete quality checks and help maintain consistent metrics, definitions, assumptions, and documentation across analyses and reporting.
Business Intelligence & Tool Support
Build and maintain recurring reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using established data models and team standards.
Help improve the automation, performance, usability, and documentation of reporting assets.
Learn and apply business intelligence, visualization, and emerging analytical tools to improve productivity while following applicable governance requirements.
Business Partnering & Communication
Work with team members and business partners to clarify questions, gather requirements, and translate business needs into structured analysis.
Prepare clear presentations, summaries, and supporting materials that explain findings, implications, and limitations.
Respond thoughtfully to feedback and refine analyses and reporting based on stakeholder needs.
Project Support & Continuous Improvement
Manage assigned work, meet agreed timelines, and provide clear updates on progress, questions, and risks.
Contribute to team projects by completing defined analytical workstreams with guidance and review.
Identify practical opportunities to improve data quality, repeatability, speed, and clarity.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Analytics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
0-3 years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, finance, strategy, or a related role; relevant internships, academic projects, or co-op experience may be considered.
