About Carewell

Are you an impact-driven problem solver who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others while contributing to a fast growing start-up? Join Carewell and be a part of a team that creates impactful solutions for caregivers and their unique challenges. We're looking for hardworking individuals committed to raising the bar and striving for impact, scalability, and simplicity. Build your career with Carewell, a category-defining business dedicated to making caregiving easier.

Our Data Philosophy

We build for leverage, not volume. That means self-service by default — stakeholders should be able to answer their own questions, with us as partners on the analysis that actually requires one. It means building everything so it can be used by LLMs, not just people; AI tooling isn't perfect, but we'd rather work at its edge than wait for it to be easy. And it means impact above all: we prioritize work with a measurable effect on the business, and we say no to work that doesn't move it forward.

About the Role

Carewell runs on a mix of e-commerce fundamentals and service delivery — merchandising, marketing, and revenue on one side; Care Services and customer support on the other. As the Business Insights Analyst, your role exists to make sure every part of that business can see, in numbers, whether it's working.

You won't be reporting the news. You'll be figuring out what's actually driving the number to move, building the report or tracker that lets a stakeholder self-monitor going forward, and helping them land on the levers worth pulling next. You'll work across financial reporting, marketing efficiency, merchandising and margin, customer cohort behavior, and Care Services productivity — not as a subject matter expert in any one of them, but as someone who's demonstrated, repeatedly, that they can get fluent in a new part of a business fast enough to build something useful in it.

This role reports to the Sr. Director of Analytics & Data Engineering, who owns the canonical data model and BI architecture. You won't own that architecture — but you'll work inside it daily, and you'll need to understand table structure well enough to direct how existing tables should be re-engineered to support the analysis you're building.

This is a role built for someone who wants to go deep on the analysis and the business itself, not climb toward people management. We're looking for 3–5 years of experience and someone who's genuinely excited about spending the next several years getting better at this craft, not treating it as a one-year stepping stone.

What You’ll Do

Build Reports That Drive Action, Not Just Reporting

  • Design and build reports and dashboards that help stakeholders self-monitor their part of the business
  • Go beyond "what happened" to "what's driving it" — identify the underlying business drivers behind metric movement
  • Partner with stakeholders to use data to drive strategic business decisions
  • Help identify the KPIs a given team or function should actually be watching, and build the reporting that tracks them on an ongoing basis
  • Build and maintain monthly financial reports, incorporating light financial analysis across revenue, margin, and cost lines
  • Retire or simplify reports that no longer drive decisions, so stakeholders aren't left sorting signal from noise

Work Across the Business

  • Marketing efficiency analysis: CAC, LTV, spend efficiency, channel-level performance
  • Merchandising, revenue, and profit/margin analysis: product- and category-level performance, margin drivers
  • Customer cohort behavior: retention curves, repeat purchase patterns, Autoship performance
  • Care Services productivity analysis: throughput, service-level metrics, staffing efficiency
  • No single one of these needs to be a specialty coming in — you'll need to show you can ramp into a new analytical domain and produce something useful, not just competent, in it

Turn Feedback Into Measurable Levers

  • Take stakeholder input — a hunch, a complaint, an open question — and turn it into a concrete, testable hypothesis about what lever to pull
  • Build the tracking needed to measure results once that lever is pulled, before the lever is pulled, not after
  • Close the loop — report back on whether the lever worked, and adjust the tracking or the hypothesis if it didn't
  • Flag when a stakeholder's request points to a bigger underlying question worth raising, rather than just answering exactly what was asked

Communicate Across the Organization

  • Work directly with stakeholders at every level, from individual contributors to senior leadership
  • Strong, clear written and verbal communication is required; polished presentation skills are not
  • Translate technical or data-heavy findings into plain language a non-analytical stakeholder can act on

Work With the Data Foundation (Not Own It)

  • Understand table structure and data model design well enough to give clear direction on how existing tables should be re-engineered to support your analysis
  • Write complex, efficient SQL to build and maintain your own analytical queries independently
  • Use AI tools (Claude, Claude Code, Claude Cowork) and Hex as part of your everyday workflow — from day one, not as a learning curve
  • Escalate data model or table-structure issues to rather than working around them repeatedly

Outcomes You’ll Drive

  • Actionable, Not Just Accurate: Reports and dashboards that lead stakeholders to a decision or a lever to pull, not just a status update
  • Trusted Monthly Financials: Monthly financial reporting that's accurate, timely, and consistent enough for leadership to rely on without re-checking it
  • KPIs That Stick: Self-monitoring metrics and dashboards that teams actually keep using — not built once and abandoned
  • Levers Tracked to Results: A clear record of levers identified from stakeholder input, with tracking in place to show whether each one worked
  • Cross-Functional Fluency: Demonstrated ability to ramp into a new part of the business (Marketing, Merchandising, Finance, Care Services) and produce useful analysis within it, without requiring deep subject-matter ramp-up time
  • Day-One AI Leverage: Visible, practical use of AI tools in the analytical workflow from the start — faster turnaround and broader coverage than a comparable analyst working without them

What You’ll Bring

  • 3–5 years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, reporting, or a closely related analytical role
  • Demonstrated experience working across multiple functional areas of a business (i.e. marketing, product, finance, operations)
  • Strong SQL skills — comfortable writing complex analytical queries independently, including joins across multiple tables and aggregations at different levels of grain
  • Working understanding of relational table structure and data modeling concepts — able to read an existing schema and identify where it should change to support new analysis
  • Proven experience with modern reporting tools (Hex, Looker, Omni, Etc.)
  • Practical, hands-on experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar) to accelerate analytical work — able to apply this productively from day one, not as something to be trained on
  • E-commerce or DTC experience strongly preferred; service-business experience (support, care, or operations) also valuable given Carewell's Care Services function
  • A specific example, from a past role, of a report or metric you built that changed a stakeholder's decision — not just informed it
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfort presenting findings to stakeholders at all levels
  • A track record that suggests genuine interest in going deep on analytical craft over the next several years, rather than using this as a fast step toward a management track
  • Degree in a quantitative, business, or related field preferred

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation
  • Health, Dental, and Vision insurance
  • Short-term Disability and Life Insurance (100% employer-sponsored)
  • Long-term Disability
  • Supplemental Life Insurance (employee-sponsored)
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan
  • 100% Remote
  • Generous paid time off and 6 paid holidays
  • Employee discount
