Business Intelligence Analyst

The Business Intelligence Analyst develops, maintains, and enhances Power BI reports that turn data from relational databases, the enterprise data warehouse, and data marts into reliable, business-facing analytics. You will partner with business stakeholders to clarify reporting requirements and take assignments from requirements through implementation and ongoing support. Responsibilities include investigating and transforming data using T-SQL and Power Query, developing Power BI semantic models and DAX measures, building interactive reports, optimizing performance, and validating results against source data and business requirements before release.

The ideal candidate has strong T-SQL and DAX skills and experience working with complex datasets and data relationships. You will work with the business and the Business Intelligence team to resolve data quality issues and identify reporting data needs, document report logic and definitions, and apply sound technical judgment and independent problem-solving skills to deliver accurate, maintainable reporting solutions.

Responsibilities

• Write, optimize, and maintain T-SQL queries, views, functions, and stored procedures to extract, transform, and aggregate data for reporting.
• Design, build, and publish Power BI reports, including the semantic model, DAX measures, Power Query transformations, interactive features appropriate to the business need, and scheduled refresh.
• Meet with business stakeholders to gather and clarify requirements, identify appropriate data sources, and determine the T-SQL and Power BI approach.
• Validate report output against source data and resolve discrepancies before release.
• Support and enhance existing reports, including troubleshooting issues reported by stakeholders and updating logic as business rules change.
• Document report logic, data definitions, and validation so that others can maintain the work.
• Identify trends and relationships across data sources and translate findings into business insights for stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience and certifications.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in business intelligence or data analytics with strong proficiency in writing, reading, and debugging T-SQL queries, views, functions, and stored procedures, including the ability to explore an unfamiliar schema, profile data, and identify the right source tables.
• 3+ years building Power BI reports in a production environment, including semantic modeling, DAX measures, and Power Query.
• Demonstrated ability to gather requirements from non-technical stakeholders, translate them into a technical approach, and deliver a complete, validated report independently and on schedule. Candidates should be prepared to walk through a report they built this way.
