Business Intelligence Engineer (Contract, Remote)

Job Description This is a remote position. We are seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to design and build scalable analytics solutions that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role focuses on data modeling, transformation, reporting infrastructure, and performance optimization within modern cloud data environments. You will collaborate with Data Engineers, Analysts, and business stakeholders to transform raw data into reliable reporting layers and executive-ready dashboards. The ideal candidate understands both backend data architecture and front-end reporting tools. This is a contract, remote opportunity supporting U.S.-based clients. Key Responsibilities: • Design and maintain data models for reporting and analytics • Develop ETL/ELT workflows to support BI dashboards • Optimize SQL queries and reporting performance • Build dashboards and executive-level reports • Translate business requirements into technical data solutions • Implement data validation and governance best practices • Support cross-functional analytics initiatives • Maintain documentation and data lineage standards Requirements • 4+ years of experience in Business Intelligence or Data Engineering • Strong SQL skills and query optimization experience • Experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Databricks, etc.) • Experience building dashboards in tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts (dimensional modeling preferred) • Experience working in AWS, Azure, or GCP environments • Ability to translate business questions into analytical solutions • Strong communication skills for stakeholder interaction Preferred Qualifications • Experience with dbt or transformation frameworks • Experience supporting finance, operations, or product analytics • Experience with data governance and documentation standards • Experience in SaaS, fintech, or healthtech environments • Familiarity with Python for data analysis Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate: • Thinks in terms of scalable analytics architecture • Can move between SQL optimization and dashboard design • Understands business KPIs and operational metrics • Balances speed with data accuracy • Can operate independently in remote contract environments Benefits
