Power BI Specialist

Duration: 6-month contract, starting ASAP

Location: Brisbane CBD

Work Arrangements: Full-time hybrid, 3 days in the office and 2 days WFH

Role Purpose

Sitting within a program's Governance and Controls team, you'll design and build the Power BI reporting that project leaders and executives rely on to track cost, schedule, risk, procurement, workforce and delivery performance. The program is in pre-delivery with construction on the horizon, so you'll help establish a single source of truth for project performance from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, scorecards and reports for project and executive decision-making.
Build robust data models, measures and business logic using Power Query, DAX and SQL.
Analyse and reconcile data from multiple systems to surface trends, risks and performance insights.
Produce accurate, timely reporting for executive, governance and project control forums.
Manage report access, refresh schedules and security, including row-level security.
Lead stakeholder workshops and requirements gathering, translating business needs into scalable reporting solutions.
Maintain reporting standards, testing processes and technical documentation.
Provide training and support to lift data literacy and adoption.

Required Skills & Experience

Proven BI, data analytics or Power BI development experience in a large or complex organisation.
Strong hands-on Power BI Desktop, Power Query, DAX, data modelling and visualisation skills.
Strong SQL skills and experience with complex datasets, enterprise data sources or data warehouses.
End-to-end BI delivery experience, from requirements through to deployment and support.
Experience developing KPIs, performance measures and reporting frameworks.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and the ability to tell a clear data story to non-technical audiences.
A disciplined approach to data quality, testing, documentation and governance.
Available for the full six-month contract and willing to undergo a criminal history check.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

A tertiary qualification in data analytics, information systems, computer science, business or similar.
Experience in infrastructure, transport, construction, project controls or complex project delivery.
Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, Databricks, Power Apps, Power Automate, Python or R.
Agile delivery, continuous improvement or benefits realisation experience.
