As a self-regulatory organization, our mission is to promote healthy capital markets by regulating fairly and effectively so that investors are protected and confident investing in their futures. At the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO), we are committed to setting high regulatory standards for the investment industry, safeguarding investors, and supporting the integrity of Canada’s capital markets. Join a growing team and contribute to the dynamic and complex world of Canadian capital markets.

About this Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Innovation, the Business Process Engineer, Innovation will be a dedicated full-time resource supporting CIRO’s AI & Automation Centre of Excellence (COE). The role will provide the business process capacity needed to assess COE intake, work with business teams to understand and improve workflows, clarify requirements, identify process and data issues that need to be addressed before transformation, and support the successful delivery, adoption and benefits tracking of AI and automation solutions.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the COE’s dedicated business process resource, supporting the full intake-to-implementation lifecycle for AI and automation opportunities
  • Assess intake requests with the Director of Innovation and COE partners by clarifying the business problem, expected outcomes, process readiness, data needs and implementation considerations
  • Map current-state workflows, decision points, data flows and hand-offs to identify pain points, gaps and opportunities that affect COE solution design and delivery
  • Work with business owners to define practical future-state processes, confirm accountabilities and prepare teams for COE-led solution delivery and adoption
  • Translate business needs into clear requirements, user stories, process documentation, data considerations and implementation inputs for COE, IT and ePMO partners
  • Act as the day-to-day bridge between business teams, COE resources, IT and ePMO so requirements, dependencies, risks, decisions and ownership remain clear
  • Help determine whether an opportunity should be addressed through process redesign, staff-built solutions, COE-led builds or larger technology projects
  • Analyze process data, volumes, cycle times, exception rates and other operational indicators to establish credible baselines, support COE benefits assumptions, prioritization and delivery decisions, and assess realized outcomes post-implementation
  • Apply an enterprise-wide lens to transformation opportunities and deployed solutions by identifying opportunities for scaling, considering organizational dependencies and helping prioritize investments.
  • Maintain COE process documentation, intake records, benefits assumptions, implementation status and post-implementation metrics to support governance, reporting and continuous improvement

What You Bring:

Must-haves:

  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in business process analysis, business analysis, operational improvement, project support or a related discipline
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, technology, operations, finance, public policy or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience supporting AI, automation, workflow, case management, reporting or data-related initiatives
  • Strong ability to document current-state and future-state processes, identify root causes, define requirements and recommend practical improvements
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to support process redesign, automation, workflow improvement or technology-enabled change
  • Experience designing or supporting structured experiments, prototypes or pilots for transformation opportunities.
  • Comfort using data to understand process performance, establish baselines, track benefits and communicate progress
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder-engagement skills, including the ability to translate between business, process and technical audiences and influence direction and build support without direct authority.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through in a changing environment
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn about AI, automation, emerging tools and their practical use in improving how work gets done

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in the investment industry, financial services, regulation or another complex, process-oriented environment
