Business & Project Development Manager (m/f/d)

KEON is a French group specialising in the development, investment, construction and operation of biomethane projects. With headquarters in Paris and teams in Nantes, the Group combines expertise across the value chain, from feedstock supply and plant construction to operations and the commercialisation of biomethane and biogenic CO₂.

Alongside greenfield development, KEON invests in existing biogas businesses and converts combined heat and power (CHP) plants into biomethane projects, including grid injection, bioCNG and bioLNG.

In Germany, we position ourselves as a partner for plant owners seeking a long-term future for their businesses, particularly as EEG support expires or succession becomes a priority.

To help build our German business from Hamburg, we are looking for a Business & Project Development Manager.

Your role

Identify, assess and develop biogas and biomethane investment opportunities across Germany. You will lead opportunities from initial contact through commercial assessment, acquisition negotiations and project development, working closely with the German management team and Group specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Originate acquisition, partnership and development opportunities, building relationships with plant owners, farmers, advisers and local partners.

• Assess commercial potential, conversion options and project economics; identify key risks and recommend next steps.

• Coordinate due diligence and the preparation of offers, and support negotiations and transaction closing with Group specialists.

• Develop commercially viable arrangements for feedstock supply, land access, biomethane offtake and digestate management.

• Coordinate technical studies, permitting, grid connection and commercial, legal and financial structuring.

• Prepare investment proposals and guide projects towards investment approval and readiness for construction.

• Maintain the opportunity pipeline and report progress, risks and priorities.

• Represent KEON at industry events and in discussions with project stakeholders.

Your profile

• A degree in engineering, business, agricultural sciences or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.

• Relevant experience in biogas or biomethane business development or project development, ideally including acquisitions or partnerships.

• A sound understanding of the German agricultural and biogas market, permitting processes and project economics.

• Strong commercial judgement, negotiation skills and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.

• Confidence in building trusted relationships with plant owners and agricultural partners.

• An independent, structured and hands-on approach, with the motivation to help build a growing business.

• Fluent German and professional working proficiency in English.

• Willingness to travel regularly within Germany.
