Position Summary

The Business Technology Solutions Specialist is an embedded technology and process-improvement resource within IMS who partners closely with assigned business areas to improve operational performance. This role proactively identifies inefficiencies, delays, manual processes, workflow gaps, and opportunities for improvement, then uses technology, automation, data, and process redesign to help solve them. The position combines business analysis, process improvement, application administration, project execution, training, and change management. It is intended to be a highly visible individual-contributor role that works closely with operational leaders and staff while remaining part of IMS.

Business Technology Solutions Specialist Key Responsibilities:

Business Partnership and Process Improvement

  • Develop a strong understanding of assigned departments, workflows, goals, challenges, and performance measures.
  • Spend meaningful time embedded with assigned business areas and work closely with operational leaders and staff.
  • Proactively identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, delays, redundant tasks, manual work, and other opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead structured process-improvement initiatives.
  • Document current-state workflows and help design improved future-state processes.
  • Perform root-cause analysis to identify underlying operational or technology issues.
  • Establish baseline performance measures and define appropriate KPIs.
  • Recommend practical solutions based on business impact, effort, cost, and available resources.

Technology and Application Management

  • Serve as a primary technology resource for assigned business areas.
  • Provide hands-on administration and optimization of designated enterprise applications.
  • Manage application configuration, workflows, permissions, vendor support, upgrades, and related administrative responsibilities as appropriate.
  • Continuously evaluate existing systems for opportunities to improve efficiency and usability.
  • Work with internal IMS resources, system administrators, vendors, and business leaders to improve workflows and solve problems.

Automation and Technology Enablement

  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual work through automation, workflow improvements, integrations, AI, and system configuration.
  • Evaluate uses of AI and other emerging technologies to improve business operations.
  • Translate business needs into clear requirements for technical teams, vendors, and system owners.
  • Ensure solutions align with organizational security, privacy, and technology standards.

Project Ownership and Implementation

  • Independently lead improvement initiatives from discovery through implementation.
  • Gather requirements, coordinate stakeholders, manage timelines, and track deliverables.
  • Perform or coordinate configuration, testing, user acceptance testing, implementation, documentation and go-live activities.
  • Collaborate with other IMS specialists when projects require expertise in infrastructure, data, integrations, clinical systems, or enterprise applications.

Training, Adoption, and Measurement

  • Develop training materials and provide end-user training for new systems, workflows, and process changes.
  • Monitor adoption following implementation and identify barriers to success.
  • Measure outcomes against established baselines and KPIs.
  • Demonstrate measurable improvements such as reduced processing time, fewer manual steps, improved service levels, increased productivity, reduced errors, or improved financial and operational performance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Requires manual dexterity skills to include repetitive use of hands and fingers.
