We’re open to discussing flexible working
About the role
We’re looking for a Capital Buyer to join our Capital Procurement team, helping us deliver the contracts, suppliers and value that support investment in our water and wastewater infrastructure.
Reporting to a Category Manager, you’ll support procurement from initial spend analysis and market research through to tendering, negotiation, contract award and supplier relationship management. You’ll take responsibility for sourcing activities across agreed categories, working with colleagues and suppliers to challenge existing approaches, solve problems and deliver better outcomes.
What you’ll be doing
Supporting category plans and running sourcing activities, including tender preparation, evaluation, negotiation and implementation.
Analysing spend and market information to identify savings, risks and opportunities to improve value.
Helping award frameworks and contracts in line with procurement regulations and internal approvals.
Maintaining accurate procurement systems, supplier information and contract records.
Reviewing supplier performance data, highlighting issues and supporting improvement activities.
Building effective relationships with stakeholders and suppliers, and supporting wider supply chain initiatives.
About you
You’ll bring practical sourcing experience and be able to explain the part you’ve played in delivering savings or wider commercial benefits.
You’ll be comfortable working with data, comparing options and turning your findings into clear recommendations. You’ll also have the confidence to negotiate, challenge constructively and build relationships with people across different teams.
We’re looking for:
- Experience of managing sourcing events and contributing to tendering and contract negotiations.
- Evidence of delivering savings or improvements in value, service, quality or risk.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience of procurement systems and digital tools.
- Clear communication and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders and suppliers.
- Good organisation and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Experience in capital procurement, construction or engineering, NEC4 contracts, or a regulated public or utilities environment is highly desirable. A degree, CIPS Level 4 or above, or equivalent business experience would also be beneficial.
Please note this role will require a DBS to be completed prior to employment
