Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for a Cantonese or Korean Medical Interpreter with free training provided. The Medical Interpreter will facilitate clear, accurate, and confidential communication between patients and healthcare professionals in medical settings, primarily via phone or video. Day-to-day tasks include performing real-time interpreting during medical appointments, explaining medical terminology in a way that patients can understand, and ensuring messages are conveyed faithfully without adding, omitting, or altering information. The interpreter will follow established protocols, comply with privacy and confidentiality regulations, and document completed assignments in the company’s language management systems. The role may require flexible scheduling to accommodate different time zones and 24/7 service coverage.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Medical Interpretation skills, including the ability to accurately convey information between Cantonese or Korean and English in clinical contexts.
• Candidates should possess solid Interpreting and Simultaneous Interpretation skills to handle real-time conversations between patients and healthcare providers.
• Candidates should possess knowledge of Medical Terminology in both English and Cantonese or Korean, enabling clear and precise communication in healthcare encounters.
• Candidates should possess Translation abilities for occasional written materials, such as patient instructions or simple medical documents.
• Fluency in Cantonese or Korean and English (spoken and comprehension) with clear, professional communication skills.
• Commitment to confidentiality, ethical interpreting practices, and respect for diverse cultures and backgrounds.
• Comfort with remote work, including reliable internet access and the ability to use cloud-based platforms and video/phone tools.
• Availability to complete company-provided training; prior experience in medical or healthcare settings is beneficial but not required.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or interpreter certification is a plus.
