  • Identify recurring deficiencies, document findings, and track corrective actions through resolution.
  • Analyze clinical quality trends and prepare concise audit reports and recommendations for leadership.
  • Escalate significant clinical concerns to the appropriate medical leader for evaluation and direction.

Technician Training, Onboarding & Competency

  • Lead clinical onboarding and anesthesia-related training for veterinary technicians and designated clinical personnel.
  • Provide hands-on and remote instruction in anesthesia and sedation protocols, patient monitoring, emergency response, and recovery practices.
  • Develop standardized training checklists, clinical competency assessments, and educational resources.
  • Evaluate technician skills, identify performance gaps, and coordinate targeted retraining and competency reassessments.
  • Support continuing education and consistent application of clinical and patient safety standards.
  • Collaborate with practice-site veterinarians and Hospital Managers to reinforce clinical expectations and accountability.

Anesthesia & Sedation Case Management

  • Review patient histories, medical records, and diagnostic information to identify anesthesia and sedation risks, contraindications, and special considerations.
  • Coordinate pre-anesthetic case readiness, ensuring required assessments, laboratory results, medication histories, and documentation are complete.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and clinical teams on anesthesia and sedation protocol selection, patient monitoring requirements, and recovery planning.
  • Identify high-risk or complex cases requiring additional medical review, specialist consultation, or modified anesthesia considerations.
  • Support clinical teams in preparing for MRI, CT, and other diagnostic procedures requiring anesthesia or sedation.
  • Facilitate communication between referring veterinarians, SVI clinicians, specialists, and technicians regarding anesthesia-related concerns and patient safety.
  • Review anesthesia-related complications and recovery concerns to identify opportunities for improved protocols, training, and clinical outcomes.

Quality Improvement & Leadership Collaboration

  • Develop and monitor patient safety indicators, anesthesia compliance, audit findings, and technician competency trends.
  • Recommend improvements to clinical workflows, documentation, training programs, and patient safety processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of clinical audits, training activities, competency assessments, and corrective actions.
