Please Read Before Applying:

  • Serving as an Caseworker Specialist II involves working alone in clients' homes to support youth and families with complex and unpredictable behaviors. The role requires the ability to confidently and tactfully handle potentially dangerous or stressful situations.
  • Some travel throughout will be required for this position.
  • The candidate selected for this position will either be given access to a state-owned vehicle, or will receive mileage reimbursement for use of a personal vehicle.
  • Due to this position requiring travel via motor vehicle, candidates will be required to have a valid Driver License.
  • Continued employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a fingerprinting background check.

Key Responsibilities
Day-to-day responsibilities of this position:

  • Provides clients with information concerning rights, options, benefits, services, goals and expectations.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines, etc.
  • Receives, researches and responds to incoming questions or complaints; provides information, explains policy and procedures, and/or facilitates a resolution.
  • Refers client, partners, and families to other available services to meet needs where appropriate.
  • Enters data into a computer system and retrieves, corrects, or deletes previously entered data.
  • Proficient in word processing documents like word, excel, etc.
  • Reviews and/or inspects work for quality, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Collaborates with other state and local programs, organizations and agencies, and with various stakeholders to promote program goals and objectives.
  • Respond to inquires for community based services.
  • Manage crisis situations.
  • Support and sustain DSPD goals, plans, and objectives.
  • Apply understanding of a person's eligibility for services.
  • Negotiate the DSPD budget worksheet within the individualized budget.

Qualifications
Minimum or "day-one" qualifications:

  • Has knowledge of Home and Community Based Services (HCBS).
  • Has obtained certification as a QIDP (Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional).
  • Has a Bachelor's Degree or 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Has strong interpersonal skills.
  • Is passionate about empowering People with Disabilities.
  • Is an excellent listener who is also very proactive.
  • Has the ability to work well with a wide range of people with varying interest.
  • Has knowledge of community resources for people with disabilities and how to access those resources.

About the Role

Location – 288 North 1460 West, Salt Lake City, UT 84116 (With travel around the state)
Background Check Required – You must successfully pass a criminal history check
Drug Test Required – No
Schedule Code – B - Competitive Career Service -Employment in this position requires a probationary period
