Role Summary

The Transportation Planner is responsible for designing, optimizing, and executing transportation plans across the distribution network to achieve top-tier customer service levels while driving freight cost efficiencies. Operating within CS&L Operations and based in Mexico City, this role balances daily carrier execution with long-term network efficiency, managing multi-modal shipments (FTL, LTL, milk runs, cross-dock) throughTransportation Management Systems (SAP TM). The position monitors carrier service-level agreements (SLAs), drives freight cost-saving initiatives (consolidation, backhauls), and collaborates cross-functionally with Warehousing, Customer Service, and Planning to resolve in-transit disruptions and elevate end-to-end supply chain visibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transportation Planning & Multi-Modal Routing: Design, schedule, and execute daily shipment plans aligned with plant capacities and customer orders, leveraging optimal multi-modal routing strategies (FTL, LTL, milk runs, cross-dock) to maximize asset utilization.

  • Carrier Management, RFQs & SLA Governance: Dispatch carrier partners in accordance with routing guides, participate in freight bid processes (RFQs), negotiate operational rates, and track carrier compliance against contracted safety, environmental, and service-level agreements (SLAs).

  • Service Metrics & Root-Cause Analysis: Monitor and analyze critical logistics KPIs—including On-Time Pickup and Delivery (OTIF) and routing guide compliance—leading root-cause investigations on transit delays to implement corrective actions.

  • Freight Cost Optimization & Value Creation: Identify and execute freight cost-reduction projects, maximizing truck space, implementing continuous shipment consolidation, and increasing backhaul opportunities across primary and secondary lanes.

  • Disruption Management & Dynamic Re-Planning: Detect and resolve transit exceptions, transit delays, and carrier capacity bottlenecks in real time, executing dynamic re-routing and re-planning to protect on-shelf availability and customer delivery windows.

  • Cross-Functional Synergy & TMS Master Data: Partner daily with Warehouse Operations, Customer Service, and Demand Planning to align shipping schedules, maintaining transportation master data integrity within SAP TM to ensure reliable analytics and automated reporting.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field.

  • 2+ years of experience in transportation planning, supply network planning, logistics, or supply chain operations (experience with FTL, LTL, and cross-dock routing strategies).

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience utilizing Transportation Management Systems (TMS), such as SAP TM.

  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis using Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets (e.g., complex formulas, data modeling, dashboards).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional working proficiency or fluency in English.

  • Experience leveraging automation, AI tools, scripting, or enterprise productivity suites (e.g., Google Workspace) to optimize workflows and reporting.

  • Strong root-cause problem-solving, analytical mindset, and data-driven decision-making capabilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-stakeholder relationships and execute effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

  • Working knowledge of commercial freight bid processes (RFQs) and carrier contract negotiations.
