Location: Hybrid – Peterborough
Help lead one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure transformations.
We’re the @one Alliance – a ground-breaking collaboration between Anglian Water and seven industry-leading partners: Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska and SWECO. Together, we deliver over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme.
Working in AMP8, our most ambitious period yet, we’ll be delivering an even broader range of innovative and environmentally-driven infrastructure projects – from urban drainage to nature-based solutions like constructed wetlands.
To ensure we can outperform against the Anglian Water business plan, we have a fantastic opportunity for a CDM Advisor to join us and lead on our Water Recycling projects across the region responsible for the delivery of a capital investment programme.
What will you be doing as our new CDM Advisor?
You’ll be required to ensure full compliance with relevant health and safety legislation associated with the delivery of capital works, specifically the requirements of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
In addition to this you will own the Alliance CDM processes and procedures and monitor compliance within the design teams. You will have to periodically review and revise CDM processes and procedures with subject matter experts and SHEA Systems Manager.
Consultation and collaborative working with client CDM Practitioners will be required as well as the continuous improvement review of CDM policy procedures and documentation.
What you’ll be doing:
- At Anglian Water, we lead by example, take ownership of our actions, and hold ourselves accountable for delivering results. We inspire trust through clear communication, consistent behaviour, and a focus on doing the right thing. We support others to grow, make confident decisions, and create a culture where people feel empowered to succeed.
- Ensure that all duties holders under CDM are compliant with the duties under the CDM regulations
- Actively promote and achieve H&S objectives.
- Report on CDM procedure compliance to the Business Unit Health and Safety Manager.
- Ensure pre-construction information is collected, is sufficient and presented to those who require it.
- Make informed decisions by understanding the commercial impact of what we do. We focus on delivering value, using resources wisely, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Develop tools to ensure compliance with H&S legislation and business procedures
- At Anglian Water, we believe our people are our greatest asset. We are committed to creating a culture of continuous learning, growth, and development that empowers individuals to reach their full potential. We encourage curiosity, innovation, and collaboration, and we recognize and celebrate the unique strengths and aspirations of each individual. By fostering a growth mindset and supporting career progression, we aim to build a resilient, agile, and future-ready workforce.
- Develop and deliver H&S training packages for designers and suppliers
- Working collaboratively with CDMP’s deployed in other AW Delivery Routes
What does it take to be successful?
- A qualification in engineering or health and safety
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate (desired)
- Experience of working in a multi discipline design team and of the application of H&S principals in design
- A good understanding of the operational and maintenance requirements of water industry assets (desired)
- An understanding of construction processes and procedures (desired)
- Membership of an appropriate engineering or health and safety institution

About Us
The Anglian Water @one Alliance is a collaborative organisation of consultants and contractors working together to deliver a significant portion of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme.
We design and construct water and water recycling (waste water) treatment centres that serve more than six million people in the East of England and maintain and improve the water mains and the sewerage network in the region.
With an eye firmly on carbon reduction and creating a more sustainable world - we are always looking for the very best people who are ready to bring fresh ideas to the table to help us all meet the AMP7 challenge.
We value diversity and inclusion. We see it as central to our success as an organisation. We truly believe we are better able to understand and meet the needs of our customers if our organisation reflects the communities we serve.
