Overview

We’re looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our Operational Change team at Screwfix.

You’ll be responsible for managing projects across our stores and Customer Service Centre, helping to bring new initiatives, technology and ways of working to life. From the initial idea through to implementation, you’ll make sure projects are well planned, risks are managed and changes deliver the right outcomes for the business and our customers.

Working with teams across the business, you’ll bring people together, turn ideas into practical plans and keep things moving, even when priorities change. You’ll also play an important role in sharing best practice and finding ways to make project delivery even better.

If you enjoy taking ownership, solving problems and seeing projects through to completion, this could be a great opportunity to make an impact.

This is a 9 month fixed term contract to start in November.

What's in it for you?

  • Discretionary annual bonus up to 20%
  • 33 days' holiday (including bank holidays, 5 of which can be taken flexibly)
  • Hybrid working with up to 2 days working from home
  • Flexible start and end times around core working hours
  • Buy More Holiday - eligible colleagues can boost their holiday allowance by up to one extra week
  • EV Car Scheme in Partnership with Tusker - eligible colleagues can lease a brand-new or pre-loved electric vehicle
  • Up to 14% employer pension contributions
  • Life cover up to 4x your salary
  • Health cash plan and discounted gym memberships (up to 25% savings)
  • 20% discount at Screwfix and B&Q

Responsibilities

  • Managing projects from start to finish, making sure they're delivered on time, within budget and to the agreed scope.
  • A hands-on approach to project management, taking an active role in driving delivery and resolving challenges rather than simply coordinating activity.
  • Working with stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop project plans, business cases and trials, making sure objectives are clear and outcomes can be measured.
  • Keeping projects on track by managing risks, issues and dependencies, tackling challenges and escalating where needed.
  • Building strong relationships across the business, working through competing priorities and bringing people together to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Sharing clear updates on project progress, risks and key decisions with senior stakeholders, including Directors.
  • Reviewing project outcomes, capturing learnings and identifying opportunities to improve how we deliver change.

Qualifications

  • Project management experience (preferably within a large retail environment).
  • Strong communication skills and can represent the operation as a SME.
  • Able to demonstrate successful delivery of projects and trials for a large retailer.
  • Experience delivering projects in a hands-on Project Manager role, taking an active role in making things happen and driving projects through to completion
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills, including the ability to resolve competing priorities.
  • Experience of process improvement (desirable).
  • Project management qualifications (e.g. APM) or have equivalent experience that demonstrates this understanding.
