Job Description:

Please note that roles based out of SJS or Sunbury will move to Timber Square, Southwark, from Q4 2027.

About the role

The Central Quality Engineer will directly contribute to our drive for an outstanding customer experience by supporting safe, reliable and high-quality operations.

Working closely with teams across the organisation and supply partners, you will help deliver the ‘right first time and zero defects’ approach across the end-to-end value chain, including engineering design; supplier, project and operational quality excellence; and customer experience and product reliability.

What you'll do

  • Input into the global quality plan and deliver an end-to-end Quality Management System for bp M&C EV charging in alignment with OMS 6.4 Quality Assurance requirements.
  • Lead quality due diligence for new suppliers and projects ahead of project award, including RFI and RFP activities, and support reviews of existing suppliers.
  • Lead the coordination and oversight of site quality records and documentation across the bp M&C EV charge offering.
  • Coordinate and oversee the corrective action process to identify, document and resolve all issues relating to quality requirements.
  • Develop and implement quality processes and work instructions, providing clear guidance for checks, validations, witnessing and verification activities based on risk and value.
  • Support the implementation of quality processes internally and with external EPC/hardware suppliers.
  • Ensure appropriate risk-based audit procedures are in place across the supply chain, covering quality plans, quality control processes, surveillance, factory acceptance testing and vendor spot checks.

You'll also provide quality engineering support to the UK market, including:

  • Standardisation: Develop, deploy and govern global quality standards across the regional value chain.
  • Management system: Support the development and deployment of the global Quality Management System and governance in the region.
  • Performance: Cascade, measure and report defined quality KPIs at an in-country level and participate in related performance reviews. Ensure non-conformances are captured and effectively resolved, and provide on-site quality assurance oversight during project construction and commissioning. Support the development and enhancement of KPIs to meet local requirements.
  • Organisation and capability: Develop quality capability across individuals and teams to strengthen the ‘right first time’ quality culture.

Education

Ideally, a degree or higher-level qualification in a relevant engineering field. Extensive experience in a quality engineering role with a lower-level formal qualification would be considered where directly relevant.

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience as a quality professional (ideally a quality engineer) within an industrial, customer-focused environment such as construction and commissioning, electrical, software, supply chain, automotive, or a similar sector.
  • Knowledge of project quality assurance, root cause analysis, ISO 9001 Quality Management System creation and maintenance, and supply chain quality. Strong problem-solving skills.
  • A customer-focused and agile approach, with the ability to operate within a fast-paced environment and define priorities with little supervision.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to contribute through strong teamwork and collaboration.
  • Proficiency in English.

Desirable experience

  • Experience with the EV charging segment, or experience in a customer-facing, high-volume manufacturing or high-reliability environment.
  • Communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at different levels of the organisation.
  • Experience working within a global matrix organisation.
  • Experience within a large installed footprint, field service environment.
  • Experience supporting the fast-paced and safe delivery of electrical construction and commissioning activities.
