As a Senior Building Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality surveying services across a diverse portfolio of projects. You will be responsible for managing client relationships, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the strategic growth of the Building Surveying team. This role requires a proactive, commercially minded professional with strong technical expertise and a passion for delivering value-driven solutions in the built environment.
As a Senior Building Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality surveying services across a diverse portfolio of projects. You will be responsible for managing client relationships, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the strategic growth of the Building Surveying team. This role requires a proactive, commercially minded professional with strong technical expertise and a passion for delivering value-driven solutions in the built environment.
- Lead and deliver high-quality building surveying services, providing expert technical advice and producing accurate, professional reports for a diverse range of clients and projects.
- Build and develop strong client relationships, identifying opportunities for repeat business, new commissions and growing the Building Surveying team's portfolio.
- Lead tender submissions and business development activity, working closely with Partners to identify opportunities, prepare compelling proposals and secure new work.
- Manage and oversee projects effectively, taking responsibility for programme, quality, fees and profitability while providing regular updates to Partners and clients.
- Mentor and develop junior and graduate surveyors, overseeing their workload, providing technical guidance and supporting their professional development.
- Contribute to the wider success of the team, sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, maintaining RICS CPD requirements and ensuring all work meets the highest standards of quality, health & safety and professional compliance.
Who you are
- Ideally MRICS Status with minimum 3 years PQE.
- Strong contract administration experience, particularly working with JCT forms of contract.
- Significant site inspection experience, monitoring works and recording progress on active construction sites.
- Confident leading and participating in project meetings with clients, contractors, and key stakeholders, having exceptional communication skills
- Experienced in producing technical reports, including feasibility, defect, and condition reports, with knowledge of Health & Safety and CDM Regulations (NEBOSH and Party Wall experience beneficial).
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Self-driven, highly motivated and a team player, thriving both independently and collaboratively.
