About the team

The Chemical Management Services (CMS) team partners with industrial and manufacturing customers to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective chemical management solutions. The team works closely with customers and internal functions to improve operational performance, productivity, sustainability, and overall business value.

As the CMS Account Manager, you will serve as the primary customer-facing leader for assigned accounts, managing customer relationships, operational performance, profitability, and overall customer satisfaction.

Key tasks

  • Serve as the primary customer-facing leader for assigned CMS accounts, ensuring exceptional customer support, operational performance, and program execution.

  • Develop and maintain profitable, long-term strategic customer relationships, building strong partnerships across operations, engineering, purchasing, finance, and senior leadership.

  • Lead regular customer business reviews, communicate performance against established KPIs, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Manage day-to-day customer requirements, including technical support, troubleshooting, supply chain coordination, safety initiatives, product recommendations, and issue resolution.

  • Use value-based selling techniques to identify customer needs, demonstrate value, expand services, and increase account penetration.

  • Partner with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Technical Services, Finance, and HSE to develop and execute customer solutions that deliver measurable business value.

  • Provide technical guidance related to industrial lubricants, metalworking fluids, coolants, cleaners, greases, hydraulic oils, gear oils, and their applications within manufacturing operations.

  • Identify and implement projects focused on cost reduction, productivity improvement, waste minimization, sustainability, and operational efficiency.

  • Track program spending, analyze chemical usage trends, identify cost-reduction opportunities, and prepare monthly financial and savings reports.

  • Support pricing strategy, customer communications, financial performance, cash collection activities, and initiatives that improve account profitability.

  • Develop business cases, customer proposals, and implementation plans that support growth objectives and strengthen strategic customer partnerships.

  • Participate in regional, national, and global account networks to share best practices and support strategic customer initiatives.

  • Manage customer expectations, provide program updates, and lead the resolution of operational and technical issues.

Experience required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a technical discipline, Business, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.

  • 4–6 years of relevant experience in Chemical Management Services, industrial manufacturing, technical services, or a related environment.

  • Direct Chemical Management Services (CMS) experience.

  • Demonstrated experience managing customer accounts within industrial, manufacturing, or technical-service environments.

  • Strong knowledge of industrial lubricants and metalworking fluids, including metal cutting fluids/coolants, cleaners, hydraulic oils, greases, gear oils, and their applications.

  • Solid understanding of machining operations and related manufacturing processes.

  • Experience supporting operations within a manufacturing environment.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced customer environment.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders across multiple levels of a customer organization.

  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to customer locations.

  • Must be based in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, or Western Pennsylvania/Pittsburgh area.

The anticipated salary range for this position is shown below with additional market competitive benefits. Actual placement within this range will be determined by a candidate's relevant experience, skills, and internal equity.

$107,000—$153,000 USD
