Organization
Our Rescue's mission is to end human trafficking and child exploitation while empowering survivors to reclaim their lives and thrive on their healing journey. Our Rescue partners with law enforcement, survivor advocates, and communities to combat trafficking networks via direct rescue operations, survivor care, and prevention efforts worldwide – an ecosystem that builds lasting pathways to freedom.
The organization is poised for transformational growth by bringing together its Development and Marketing functions, two teams that have historically operated separately. Today, roughly 80% of fundraising revenue comes from mass marketing initiatives, led by Our Rescue’s Marketing team. These efforts have created a strong foundation to build out both an annual giving program – targeting gift renewals – and a major gift enterprise – focused on large scale donor upgrades. In addition, there are opportunities to leverage donor communications across the organizations stewardship efforts to strengthen understanding of the organization’s impact and work ahead. By aligning these two teams, the Chief Development and Marketing Officer will have the opportunity to focus on continuing the strong work that has already begun related to mass marketing and continue to build an engine for donor engagement on top of these touch points – shifting from transactional to transformational giving that will position Our Rescue for the future.
Description
The Chief Development and Marketing Office (CDMO) is a member of Our Rescue’s Executive Leadership Team and is responsible for leading the organization’s integrated revenue, growth, brand, and external engagement strategies that fuel our mission and expand our ability to serve those who depend on our work. This leader will inspire donors and supporters to see themselves as part of a larger movement, translating generosity into measurable impact and life-changing outcomes.
This position oversees Development/Fundraising, Marketing, Communications, and E-Commerce, bringing these functions together to create a unified approach to building awareness, engaging audiences, strengthening relationships, and generating sustainable revenue in support of Our Rescue’s mission.
The CDMO is accountable for developing and executing a comprehensive revenue strategy that strengthens and diversifies Our Rescue’s funding base, expands audiences and partnerships, grows e-commerce revenue, elevates the organization’s brand and reputation, and translates the impact of its work into compelling opportunities for investment, engagement, and action. The CDMO leverages both existing organizational relationships and a well-established personal network to generate new philanthropic, corporate, and strategic partnership opportunities. This leader is expected to proactively open doors, facilitate introductions, and cultivate high-value relationships that expand the organization's reach, influence, and revenue potential.
This leader ensures that fundraising, marketing, communications, and e-commerce operate as interconnected functions rather than separate departments, with shared audiences, strategies, messaging, data, technology, and performance measures. The CDMO leverages market intelligence, audience insights, customer and donor data, revenue analytics, and organizational performance data to identify opportunities, establish priorities, measure results, and continuously improve performance.
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CDMO serves as a strategic partner to the CEO and other executive leaders, bringing an organizational-wide perspective to Our Rescue’s growth, financial sustainability, reputation, audience development, and mission impact. The CDMO also serves as a senior ambassador for Our Rescue, cultivating relationships with donors, partners, customers, community leaders, media, and other key stakeholders.
The successful CDMO will combine strategic vision with operational discipline, relationship-building with data-driven decision-making, and passion for the mission with a strong understanding of sustainable revenue growth. This leader will build the systems, teams, partnerships, and strategies necessary to expand Our Rescue’s reach, revenue, influence, and long-term impact. The CDMO works collaboratively across the organization to ensure sustainable funding that supports the organization's mission, strategic priorities, and long-term financial health.
