Chief Financial Officer
Career Consulting Partners is proud to partner with an established law firm that is growing through strong organic case development, an active acquisition strategy, and the development of financial infrastructure to support a multi-entity platform. We are assisting them in their search for a Chief Financial Officer. The CFO is the firm's senior financial executive and a key strategic partner to the Managing Partners. You'll own all financial operations, from cash flow and case cost financing to budgeting, risk, and reporting, and you'll take a lead role in sourcing, structuring, and integrating acquisitions. This is a hands-on leadership seat. You'll set strategy while staying close to the details, and you'll be accountable for the entire department's output.
Responsibilities:
Build and manage a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast to navigate irregular, settlement-driven revenue
Oversee case cost tracking, litigation financing, lines of credit, and settlement disbursement approvals
Lead the Controller and accounting team, with final approval on financial statements, reconciliations, and key disbursements
Ensure strict trust/IOLTA compliance, strong internal controls, and audit and State Bar exam readiness
Develop the annual budget and forecasts, and advise partners on profitability, case investments, and growth decisions
Lead M&A efforts, including target evaluation, due diligence, valuation, deal structuring, financing, and post-acquisition integration
Manage the firm's insurance program and its relationships with banks, lenders, outside CPAs, and financial vendors
Partner with the CHRO and CTO on compensation, benefits, payroll, and technology investments
Requirements:
Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including 3–5+ years as a CFO, Controller, or senior finance leader
Experience managing cash flow in a business with irregular, event-driven revenue (litigation, real estate, project-based, or similar)
Direct experience as finance lead on M&A transactions, from evaluation through integration
Working knowledge of trust/IOLTA accounting
Strong QuickBooks (or ERP) and advanced Excel skills
Preferred but not required
CPA License
Experience with litigation cost financing or credit lines secured by case inventory
Experience leading multiple acquisitions within a law firm or professional services roll-up
Investor, lender, or private equity relationship experience
Familiarity with SmartAdvocate, Filevine, Litify, or Needles
