The Marmon Group LLC

As a part of the global industrial organization Marmon Holdings—which is backed by Berkshire Hathaway—you’ll be doing things that matter, leading at every level, and winning a better way. We’re committed to making a positive impact on the world, providing you with diverse learning and working opportunities, and fostering a culture where everyone’s empowered to be their best.

Marmon Holdings, Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway company, is a global industrial organization with over 30,000 employees. It operates eleven business groups comprising 120+ independent manufacturing, leasing, and service businesses, with combined annual revenues exceeding $14 billion.

The Chief Information Officer is Marmon's senior technology executive, accountable for all aspects of information technology, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity across the enterprise. The role sets technology strategy and leads a global organization of approximately 450 people spanning infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity and AI.

Marmon operates a decentralized, federated IT model: each business group has its own IT leader with a dotted-line relationship with this role. Success therefore often depends on leading through influence rather than direct authority, aligning group IT leaders, business group presidents, corporate functions and commercial teams around shared standards, priorities, and technology-driven value. The role also serves as Marmon's primary IT and cybersecurity liaison to Berkshire Hathaway and manages all enterprise IT vendor relationships. This role is located in the Chicago area with hybrid office presence at Marmon’s offices downtown and approximately 25-30% travel to Marmon’s business locations globally.

  • Serve as Marmon's primary point of contact with Berkshire Hathaway on IT and cybersecurity matters, including reporting, standards and coordinated response

Federated IT leadership

  • Lead the community of business group IT leaders through dotted-line relationships, setting enterprise standards, shared platforms and common priorities
  • Use influence and consensus-building to drive adoption of enterprise initiatives across autonomous businesses, without relying on direct authority
  • Balance business group autonomy with enterprise-wide needs for security, scale and cost efficiency

Financial management and vendors

  • Own the IT budget and lead the annual planning and budgeting process
  • Manage leveraged spend across business groups and with Berkshire Hathaway, consolidating purchasing power for better terms

  • Further define and evolve the IT function and team at Marmon’s Global Innovation Center (GIC) in Bangalore, India, scaling its capabilities and integrating it with teams worldwide
  • Directly lead the corporate IT team including help desk, service management, and technology policies, practices and support across all corporate functions.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across time zones

  • Hands-on experience establishing AI strategy, governance and adoption at enterprise scale
  • Demonstrated ownership of budgets of several hundred million dollars, including vendor consolidation and leveraged-spend programs
