The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Chief Information Security Officer, reporting to our CTO, to own security across Ctrl Alt. Our platform holds and moves tokenized real-world assets for institutional clients, so security is central to the product. Clients, partners and regulators judge us on it before anything else.

We’ve grown quickly, and our security work has grown with us. You’ll take a capable small team and the controls we already have, and turn them into a security programme that can scale with the business across several regulators. You’ll set the strategy, decide on risk, and be the person the board, clients and regulators look to on security.

You’ll work closely with Engineering, Product, Compliance and Operations, and with the leadership team. The role is based in our Belfast office.

What you’ll be doing:

• Own Ctrl Alt’s security strategy and roadmap, and make sure it supports where the business is going

• Lead and grow the security team, setting a high bar for hiring, delivery and development

• Own information security risk across the company, deciding where we accept, reduce or transfer it, and explaining those decisions clearly

• Set the controls for our on-chain infrastructure, including key management, custody, wallet security and smart contract assurance

• Build a security programme that stands up to regulatory scrutiny across our jurisdictions, including operational resilience requirements such as DORA

• Lead incident response, from preparation and testing through to handling a live incident and the review afterwards

• Represent Ctrl Alt on security with the board, institutional clients, auditors and regulators

• Lead certification and assurance work such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2, and use it to raise standards rather than just pass audits

• Build security into how Engineering designs, builds and ships, so the secure option is also the easy one

• Manage third-party and supply chain risk as our partners and integrations grow

This role will be a great fit if you:

• Have led an information security function in a regulated environment, such as financial services, fintech or digital assets

• Have built or scaled a security team and programme in a fast-growing business

• Make clear risk decisions under uncertainty, and can explain the trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences

• Are credible in front of boards, regulators and institutional clients, and comfortable being challenged there

• Have run real incidents and owned the outcome, including saying early and plainly when something has gone wrong

• Care about details, because in security small gaps become big problems

• Hold a high standard for yourself and your team, and help others across the business raise theirs

• Communicate clearly in writing, from board papers to incident updates

Nice to haves:

• Hands-on experience securing blockchain infrastructure, digital asset custody or smart contracts

• Experience with regulators in more than one jurisdiction, such as the FCA, Central Bank of Ireland or VARA

• A recognised security certification such as CISSP or CISM

• Experience of interacting directly with board level stakeholders, plus regulatory bodies
