Position Overview

The Chief of Staff will serve as a right-hand partner to the Area Owner to support the leadership teams, business performance, operational systems, and strategic projects across multiple Starz markets. The Chief of Staff will understand the goals, priorities, and performance expectations for each market and will partner with Area Managers to translate those priorities into effective day-to-day execution. This is a remote position based in Richmond, VA with occasional in-person travel to Starz markets. The role will require approximately 10-20 hours/week with availability throughout the week to respond to texts/calls/emails in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership Support

  • Meet with Area Managers regularly to align on priorities, goals, and to provide support where needed.
  • Help Area Managers to recruit, interview, and hire new instructors and team members.
  • Support Area Managers with team meetings, trainings, professional development, and retention.

Business Performance & Market Growth

  • Partner with the Area Owner to establish and monitor key goals for revenue, staffing, partnerships, and overall market health.
  • Lead strategic growth initiatives including new school outreach and piloting new revenue channels such as weekend classes, birthday parties, and specialty camps.

Operations & Systems Management

  • Serve as the point person on operational systems such as payroll, student databases, marketing platforms, and Google Workspace.
  • Manage operations tasks such as billing, invoicing, payroll, and compliance.
  • Help solve complex staffing, partner, parent, and operational issues that require additional leadership support.

Partnership with the Area Owner

  • Meet regularly with the Area Owner to review market performance, leadership, staffing, priorities, and challenges.
  • Serve as a trusted thought partner, bringing forward recommendations and solutions rather than simply reporting problems.
  • Represent the Area Owner and market leaders as needed.
