Role Description The Chief Research Scientist role at Fun Drive Games is a part-time, remote position focused on driving innovation through advanced research in game design, player behavior, and emerging technologies. This role involves designing and leading research studies, analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, and translating insights into actionable recommendations for product, design, and engineering teams. The Chief Research Scientist will collaborate with leadership to define research roadmaps, evaluate new technologies such as AI and machine learning for gameplay and personalization, and support experimentation frameworks for feature testing and optimization. The role also includes mentoring team members in research methodologies, ensuring ethical standards and data privacy compliance, and preparing clear reports and presentations that inform strategic decisions.

Qualifications

  • Advanced expertise in research design and methodology, including experimental design, user research, and statistical analysis.
  • Strong skills in data analysis tools and techniques, such as Python/R, SQL, or specialized analytics platforms for behavioral and game telemetry data.
  • Background in game research, human-computer interaction, cognitive science, or related fields, with a deep understanding of player psychology and engagement.
  • Experience applying emerging technologies (e.g., AI, machine learning, simulations) to interactive systems, gaming environments, or real-time personalization.
  • Proven ability to translate complex research findings into clear, practical insights for cross-functional teams, including product, design, and engineering.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience creating reports, white papers, and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership in research settings, including mentoring, project ownership, and collaboration in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Cognitive Science, Game Studies, or a closely related discipline is highly beneficial.
  • Prior experience in the gaming industry or interactive entertainment, particularly in mobile gaming, is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple research initiatives, and adapt to a fast-evolving product landscape.
