CTO & Technical Co-Founder

We are building an early-stage consumer technology startup with a completed MVP that is preparing for launch.

We are looking for a hands-on CTO & Technical Co-Founder to take ownership of the technology, lead the product through launch, and build the technical foundation required to scale the company.

This is not a purely managerial CTO role. At this stage, we need someone who is highly technical, comfortable working directly with the codebase, and able to make strong architectural and engineering decisions while gradually building the wider technical team.

You will work closely with the founder and have significant influence over the product, technology strategy, roadmap, and future engineering organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Take full technical ownership of the existing product

• Review and strengthen the current architecture and codebase

• Lead the product through production launch and subsequent releases

• Own technical architecture, backend systems, databases, APIs, infrastructure, security, and reliability

• Improve performance, scalability, monitoring, testing, and deployment processes

• Make pragmatic technical decisions appropriate for an early-stage startup

• Establish strong engineering standards and development processes

• Recruit and lead future engineers as the company grows

• Work closely with the founder on product development, roadmap, and company strategy

Direct experience with every tool in the stack is not mandatory, but strong experience with React Native, TypeScript, modern application architecture, backend systems, and production deployment is highly preferred.

What we’re looking for

• 6–7+ years of professional software engineering experience

• Strong hands-on full-stack or backend engineering experience

• Strong experience with React Native, TypeScript, or comparable modern application technologies

• Experience building and shipping production-grade applications

• Strong understanding of software architecture, databases, APIs, cloud infrastructure, security, and scalability

• Ability to quickly understand and take ownership of an existing codebase

• Strong product and commercial mindset

• Comfortable operating with ambiguity and making decisions with limited resources

• High level of ownership, accountability, and execution

• Interest in building a company from an early stage rather than simply joining as an employee

Previous startup experience is highly valued, particularly experience taking a product from MVP through launch and early scale.

The opportunity

The MVP is already built, so this is not a role focused on turning an idea or concept into a first product.

The immediate focus will be launching, improving the product based on real-world usage, strengthening the underlying technology, and preparing the platform for growth.

This is intended to be a genuine technical co-founder position with long-term involvement in the company.
