China Sourcing Specialist

We're helping our client find a senior, proven China Sourcing Specialist to lead supplier sourcing in China as they expand across two growing businesses. Our client is a fast-growing consumer brand / eCommerce company, and this hire will be their go-to expert for identifying, vetting, and managing Chinese manufacturers, from first contact through quality control and delivery. This is a high-impact role with a direct line to leadership, and our client is looking to have the right person in seat within approximately 30 days.

Responsibilities:

• Identify, research, and vet new suppliers and factories in China to support product line expansion across multiple businesses
• Lead supplier outreach and communication in Mandarin, building strong, long-term vendor relationships
• Negotiate pricing, MOQs, payment terms, lead times, and contracts to secure the best overall value
• Coordinate samples, product development, and specification approvals with factories
• Manage quality control, including factory audits, pre-shipment inspections, and resolution of quality issues
• Coordinate production timelines and keep orders on schedule
• Work with freight forwarders and logistics partners on shipping, import, and customs requirements
• Track supplier performance, costs, and risks; recommend improvements and alternative sources
• Provide clear updates and sourcing recommendations to leadership in English

Must-Have Skills & Experience:

• Fluency in Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written) and strong professional English
• 5+ years of hands-on experience sourcing products from China-based suppliers and factories
• Proven track record of finding new suppliers, negotiating favorable terms, and delivering measurable cost and quality results
• Experience managing QC processes and factory coordination (audits, inspections, sampling)
• Working knowledge of import processes, international shipping, Incoterms, and customs
• Ability to work independently, with reliable overlap with US business hours

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience sourcing for eCommerce, CPG, supplements, health and wellness, or other consumer goods brands
• Existing network of vetted manufacturers in China
• Experience supporting Amazon or DTC brands
• Familiarity with product compliance and regulatory requirements for US-bound consumer goods
• Experience traveling to or working on the ground in China
• Comfort with sourcing platforms (e.g., Alibaba, 1688, Global Sources) and trade shows (e.g., Canton Fair)
