Civil Engineering - Entry Level

Are you a recent graduate ready to launch your career in civil engineering or transportation planning and contribute to projects that shape communities across Chicagoland? Christopher B. Burke Engineering Ltd. (CBBEL) is seeking entry-level engineers and transportation planners to join our team. As a full-time engineer or transportation planner, you’ll work on a variety of civil engineering projects, applying your academic training to real-world challenges. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and gain exposure to design, analysis, permitting, and client interaction.

Our Rosemont office is centrally located within the Chicago metropolitan area and serves as the hub for our engineering and consulting services operations.

What You’ll Do

• Designing drainage, stormwater, water main, sanitary sewer, roadway, and other infrastructure systems
• Performing calculations, quantity take-offs, and cost estimates
• Producing construction plans and specifications using CAD software
• Attending internal and client meetings
• Supporting project managers with budgeting, invoicing, and reporting
• Participating in networking and outreach events
• Collaborating across departments on multi-discipline projects
• Participate in networking events to support business development, talent outreach, and foster new relationships
• Other assignments as needed

What You Bring

• B.S. or M.S. in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Urban Planning or related field
• 0-4 years of experience
• Valid driver’s license required
• Good written and oral communication skills

Bonus Qualifications:

• EI license or PE track
• Familiarity with state and regional regulations
• Knowledge of CAD software (MicroStation, Geopak, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or OpenRoads Designer)
