Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Civil Engineering Intern to join our team in a part-time, remote capacity. This paid internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in civil infrastructure projects specializing in utilities. As a Civil Engineering Intern, you will support project planning, design, and inspection activities while developing your technical skills in a dynamic environment. This role is ideal for students eager to contribute to impactful projects and expand their knowledge of civil engineering practices.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation and review of construction drawings, schematics, and technical specifications using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other software.
  • Support project scheduling efforts by updating timelines and tracking project milestones to ensure timely completion.
  • Contribute to construction management activities including site inspections, construction inspection reports, and public works construction inspection procedures.
  • Utilize GIS tools such as ArcGIS and GIS software to collect, analyze, and interpret spatial data related to land surveying, and existing conditions.
  • Aid in the development of construction estimates by gathering data on materials, labor costs, and project scope.
  • Participate in research & development initiatives aimed at innovative civil engineering solutions for infrastructure challenges.
  • Assist with field surveying activities including data collection, and site visits.
  • Attend in person meetings as needed.
  • Support the interpretation of technical drawings and construction plans to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Contribute to the creation of construction plans and schematics that meet engineering standards.
  • Collaborate with team members on drafting technical reports and writing clear documentation for project records.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited civil engineering program or related field
  • .Basic proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D is required
  • .Knowledge of GIS tools like ArcGIS or other spatial analysis software is highly desirable
  • .Strong understanding of civil engineering principles including project scheduling, construction management, and interpreting technical drawings
  • .Excellent research skills combined with the ability to analyze data related to stormwater management or water/wastewater treatment systems
  • .Effective communication skills for technical writing and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams
  • .Ability to work independently remotely while managing multiple tasks efficiently
  • .Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting purposes
