Our employer partner is into insurance and financial services and currently looking to add an experienced Claims Specialist, Personal Lines Auto to their team!

Job Overview:

The Claims Specialist, Personal Lines Auto, manages low- to moderate-complexity auto insurance claims by assessing liability, verifying coverage, evaluating damages, and negotiating settlements. The role focuses on providing responsive customer service, ensuring accurate claims documentation, and resolving claims in compliance with insurance regulations and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, document, and update auto insurance claims files accurately and maintain complete records.

  • Investigate claims, assess liability, determine policy coverage, and evaluate damages.

  • Develop claim resolution strategies, estimate claim costs, establish reserves, and monitor claims throughout the process.

  • Negotiate settlements within authorized limits and escalate complex issues when necessary.

  • Communicate with customers professionally, respond to inquiries, and provide timely updates throughout the claims process.

  • Manage expenses by coordinating with approved vendors and external contractors.

  • Identify potential fraud and subrogation opportunities and refer cases to the appropriate teams.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, insurance regulations, confidentiality requirements, and internal quality standards.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance practices, industry trends, and claims management procedures.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree and at least two years of claims or insurance experience; or an equivalent combination of education, insurance training, and relevant experience.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Knowledge of insurance products, policies, coverage, regulations, and claims handling procedures.

  • Experience in auto insurance claims, insurance claims management, or a related customer service field.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making abilities.

  • Effective time management, organization, and multitasking skills.

  • Ability to assess claim exposure, evaluate damages, and recommend appropriate resolutions.

  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Language requirements: French fluency is required for Montreal-based candidates and is an asset for Waterloo-based candidates. Montreal candidates must also be fluent in spoken and written English.
