You will own the client side of a live mobile social game played by millions: the features players see, how they talk to our backend, and getting each release into the App Store and Google Play.
Most of the work is in Lua, on top of a C++ core with native iOS and Android layers. The game is data-driven: events, sales and offers are delivered from the server, so your work reaches players fast. You do not need to know our stack or have a games background. Strong engineering fundamentals, good debugging and how quickly you learn matter most.
You will be the main client engineer on the game, working closely with the producer, live-ops engineers, artists and QA in Hanoi, and with product and engineering teams in Israel. We actively encourage AI tools in your daily work.
Duties and responsibilities
The Client Engineer reports to the Technical Director. Duties include:

Duties and responsibilities
The Client Engineer reports to the Technical Director. Duties include:
- Build and maintain features and live-ops events in Lua: UI flows, popups, sales, server-delivered content and meta-features
- Write short technical designs for new features and agree API contracts with backend engineers
- Own client releases end to end: builds, SDK and toolchain upgrades (Xcode, Gradle, third-party SDKs), store submission and monitoring the rollout
- Work in a codebase shared with a sister game, bringing new features and improvements across so both games move forward together
- Investigate production issues from logs, crash reports and dashboards, then fix, verify and follow up
- Work with the content pipeline that builds and delivers art and smart assets, and help artists and live-ops engineers who use it
- Build tools that speed up QA and test automation
- Own your work end to end: plan and estimate it, raise risks early and keep the team in the loop
- Take part in design and architecture discussions, and document decisions
- Other tasks as assigned
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience building and shipping client-side software to real users (mobile, games, desktop or web front-end)
- Comfortable reading and debugging C or C++ code, even if it is not your main language
- Experience with a scripting language (Lua, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python or C#) and happy to work mostly in Lua
- Confident with git in a team codebase with several active branches
- Experience with REST/JSON APIs, unreliable networks and async state
- Good at tracing bugs across layers using logs, crash reports and monitoring tools
- Able to learn a large, long-lived codebase quickly and improve it safely
- Takes ownership of tasks from start to finish and communicates proactively
- Good written and spoken English for working with international teams
Preferred
- Native iOS (Xcode, Objective-C/Swift) or Android (Gradle, Java/Kotlin, JNI) experience, including store releases and SDK integration
- Experience with a game engine (Unity/C#, Cocos2d-x, Unreal or a custom engine)
- In-app purchases and payment flows
- Remote config, feature flags or server-delivered content
- Live-ops features such as events, tournaments or leaderboards
- CI/CD and build pipelines (Jenkins or similar)
- Analytics, BI events or log tools such as Splunk
- Experience using AI tools in your development workflow
- Comfortable working on macOS
Additional Notes: You may be expected to complete a test as a part of the interviewing procedure.
