Role Purpose
The Client Onboarding Analyst is responsible for ensuring that banking regulatory requirements in the areas of Customer Due Diligence (“CDD”), AML/ATF, and transaction screening are consistently applied across the bank’s customer base and maintained in accordance with Bank policies.
This role creates a seamless onboarding experience for corporate and retail clients by managing documentation, performing KYC/CDD checks, and activating accounts in compliance with regulatory standards. It focuses on accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration across internal teams, supports process improvements, and provides assistance to related operational areas when needed.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Manage client onboarding, including documentation collection and KYC/CDD checks using onboarding tools (Workflow).
- Ability to work in a fast paced and growing environment ensuring customers are being compliant to the bank’s AML/ATF and sanction’s policy.
- Review KYC information and conduct CDD of customer files including higher risk customers (e.g. complex offshore structures, trusts, collective investment schemes, HNWI) against targets for both quality and productivity, manage pipelines and backlogs and take feedback from approvers and auditors.
- Communicate with relationship managers and customers to ensure each case is handled efficiently and within agreed timescales.
- Experience in working with multi-layered corporate structures and breaking down the complex organization charts to determine the Ultimate Beneficial Owners.
- Conduct manual sanctions screening and adverse media searches and investigate sanctions and adverse media alerts that were flagged by the automated sanctions screening system.
- Monitor and maintain the KYC Periodic and Trigger Event Review Trackers in order to manage deadlines.
- Conduct and provide employee guidance or training on KYC and CDD compliance and other regulatory topics.
- Ability to perform quality control checks in relation to released transactions that had been stopped for investigations pertaining to wire screening.
- Assist with implementing and monitoring the bank’s compliance program across the business.
- Act with rapport that attracts and creates a compliance culture of trust and integrity, ensuring all activities comply with AML/ATF, KYC/CDD, and sanctions policies.
- Stay abreast with current local and global compliance/regulatory updates or trends that impact customers and banking via providing updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Act as a centre of expertise in the first line of business explaining regulatory responsibilities to prevent regulatory breaches from occurring and make the required process changes.
- Contribute to procedures and controls in relation to increasing efficiencies in the CDD and screening capabilities.
- Other duties and projects as directed by the Manager – Client Operations.
Experience, Skills & Attributes
- A recognised university degree, or comparable compliance experience preferably in a banking environment.
- At least 3-5 years in a similar position.
- Current and strong working knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements in the banking industry, AML/ ATF, KYC and CDD.
- Experience in regulatory documentation requirements and strong understanding of corporate structures.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and other relevant applications.
- An exemplary work ethic with an attention to detail and inquisitive nature.
