Are you passionate about improving patient care through technology, innovation, and collaboration? Nebraska Medicine is seeking an experienced clinical leader to lead our Informatics team and partner with clinical, operational, and IT leaders to improve patient safety, quality, workflow effectiveness, and operational efficiency across the enterprise. In this role, you will lead a team of informaticists, partner with organizational leaders to support informed decision-making and prioritization, drive complex initiatives, and help translate healthcare challenges into meaningful technology-enabled solutions. This is a hybrid position and requires flexibility to work on-site.

The Clinical Informatics Manager will plan, manage, direct, and coordinate all informatics and clinical effectiveness activities to ensure effective and efficient system workflows, responsiveness to clinical, research, and educational operational needs and optimization of applications to achieve enterprise goals for patient quality, safety and value across the continuum. Assist with implementation and optimization of evidence-based best practice by aligning clinical needs with system tools. Manage informaticists workloads to ensure that projects achieve the goal of reduced variability in care through the development and implementation of evidence-based best practices to realize cost savings and develop programs, while improving patient quality, safety, and outcomes. Prioritize and support informatics projects to allow for timely implementation, effective resource utilization, and alignment with enterprise strategic and operational priorities. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and processes to support and facilitate transparency, engagement, collaboration and innovation in system design. Monitor maintenance related to application decision support, alarms, and alerts, and report critical issues and needs to leadership. Facilitate building, planning, problem solving, and prioritization discussions between informatics resources, application teams, information technology specialists, clinicians, and leadership.
Required Qualifications: Clinical Informatics Manager
- Minimum of five years nursing, allied health, healthcare informatics or other related healthcare experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in clinical, healthcare, information technology, business, information systems or related field required.
- Currently licensed as an allied health professional (e.g. nurse, pharmacist, respiratory therapist, etc.) in the state of Nebraska or current compact state license only as required in accordance with appropriate degree required.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience with process/workflow transformation required.
- Project management experience and experience with electronic health records required.
- Minimum of two years of leadership experience required.
- Formal education or training in informatics required.
- Knowledge of operational healthcare/hospital/clinic workflows required.
- Proficient knowledge of systems analysis and design, continuous quality improvement, and industry best practices, tools, and standards required.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, including written, verbal, and interpersonal required.
- Ability to effectively lead and manage people, as well as lead and manage complex information systems projects required.
- Knowledge of team building concepts, with ability to promote cooperation, communication and teamwork required.
- Strong project management, process improvement and presentation skills required.
- Strong organization skills including the ability to coordinate multiple activities concurrently to ensure critical project paths are met is required.
- Analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills necessary.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications required.
- Close attention to detail required.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with leadership and all levels of colleagues, including users and non-users of the EHR required.
Preferred Qualifications: Clinical Informatics Manager
- EPIC applications experience preferred.
- Master’s degree or doctorate degree in informatics, nursing, pharmacy, business or other healthcare related/clinical field preferred.
- Epic application/informatics certification preferred.
- Project Management Institute (PMI) Certification or Project Management Professional (PMP) or a program recognized by PMI preferred.
- Professional certification in nursing informatics or healthcare information technology from accredited organization preferred.
- Strong understanding of the organization's policies, procedures, and business operations preferred.
- Experience applying expertise to problems to increase operational efficiency with applications and systems required.
- Experience building external network of healthcare peers to problem solve preferred.
