  • Hybrid (2 days office), easy commute - Haymarket, near Central Station

About us

At Healthdirect Australia, we help Australians access trusted health information, advice and care through our national virtual health services.

Owned collectively by all Australian governments, we deliver free, high-quality digital and virtual health services for every Australian, wherever they live. We are a friendly group who are passionate about our purpose and genuinely want to make a difference.

About the opportunity

We are seeking a Clinical Lead to provide clinical leadership and support for the Health Information and Advice Service (HIAS). Based in the Quality, Safety and Experience Division, you will report to the Nurse Manager and work alongside fellow clinical leads and internal and external stakeholders.

You will ensure services are clinically safe, effective and consumer-focused, bridge gaps between channels, and proactively identify opportunities for improvement. Paediatric expertise will strengthen our clinical oversight of advice and content for children, parents and carers across all channels. This is a part-time (0.8 FTE, 30.4 hours per week), 12-month fixed-term contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical oversight and expertise across all channels of the Health Information and Advice Service
  • Work with stakeholders and service providers to review, monitor and improve HIAS services, using clinical governance principles to keep care safe, evidence-based and accessible
  • Review and investigate incidents, complaints and feedback, and use trends, service data and consumer feedback to identify and prioritise improvements early
  • Identify, evaluate and analyse clinical risks, and ensure appropriate clinical risk management is in place for new or changed services
  • Lead and evaluate improvement and innovation activities, including the safe application of emerging technologies
  • Apply paediatric clinical expertise to the review of clinical content, advice and scenario testing, where relevant
  • Provide timely, consistent information to stakeholders and give meaningful feedback to service providers
  • Contribute to work streams, committees and forums, and to research and evaluation of our services

About You

You are a registered nurse who is confident managing stakeholder relationships and has a strong understanding of health. You bring a systematic, detail-focused approach to clinical practice and incident investigation, and you are ready to advocate for consumers and nurses. You are a team player who collaborates with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to achieve great outcomes for the service, our workforce and consumers.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
  • Extensive clinical practice experience across primary care, secondary care and population health
  • In-depth understanding of the Australian health sector, including primary and community care
  • Excellent understanding of quality, safety and clinical governance as it relates to telehealth
  • Practical experience leading and managing clinical responsibility, including reporting against clinical governance protocols
  • Demonstrated experience proactively identifying, initiating and leading quality improvement activities
  • Proven stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently at all levels
  • Highly effective time management skills and a proven ability to work in a team
  • A valid clearance to work with children (Working with Children Check)
  • Willingness to comply with child safe policies and the code of conduct, and to complete child safe training
