Location:

At Novocure, every role contributes to extending the lives of people living with cancer. As our new Clinical Operational Manager, you’ll play a key part in this mission.

You will be a key member of the Clinical Study Team, coordinating the operational delivery of a complex global Phase III drug-device combination study across Europe, the United States, Canada, and Japan. Reporting to the Global Clinical Operational Lead, you will work closely with the Clinical Trial Lead and cross-functional partners, act as a trusted escalation point, and step in as deputy or assume study leadership when assigned.

This role calls for hands-on ownership, sound project management judgment, and the confidence to work independently while connecting and escalating early when needed. In your first 6–12 months, success will mean strengthening CRO and vendor oversight, helping reduce operational and data-cleaning backlogs, embedding required SOPs and processes, and creating greater capacity for the Clinical Trial Lead during the study’s maintenance phase.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • You will combine operational coordination with practical problem-solving to keep the study moving efficiently, compliantly, and collaboratively.
  • Serve as a core member of the Clinical Study Team and act as deputy for the Clinical Trial Lead during absences or as assigned.
  • Coordinate Clinical Study Team meetings, including agendas, minutes, decisions, follow-up actions, and clear communication across internal and external partners.
  • Drive day-to-day operational delivery of a global Phase III drug-device combination study, coordinating study conduct as well as drug and device supply requirements.
  • Oversee CRO and vendor performance with a hands-on, detail-oriented approach; ask the right questions, challenge delivery where needed, track corrective actions, and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Partner across functions to develop and maintain study-level project management, communication, risk management, quality, and operational plans.
  • Establish and manage study systems and processes, including central laboratories, eCOA/ePRO, clinical supplies, data integration, transfer, and reconciliation, in line with protocol requirements.
  • Identify operational risks, issues, and process gaps; develop and implement mitigation plans, including the practical application of Novocure SOPs and required processes with external partners.
  • Maintain accurate study information in tracking and communication systems and provide regular updates to internal governance bodies.
  • Coordinate clinical trial insurance and partner with global supply chain colleagues to support the timely distribution of study drugs and devices to sites.
  • Ensure ongoing inspection and audit readiness and participate in internal audits and regulatory inspections as required.
  • Support budget forecasting, accruals, invoice tracking, and invoice processing; appropriately challenge CRO activities or costs that fall outside agreed scope.
  • Lead logistics and support content development for external meetings, including investigator meetings and advisory boards.
  • Act as Clinical Trial Lead when assigned, providing calm, collaborative leadership across the cross-functional study team.

ABOUT YOU

Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical research experience, including 2–3 years in clinical study management or clinical operations.
  • Global project management experience in Phase II or Phase III studies.
  • Proven experience overseeing CRO-managed studies and managing vendor performance in global, cross-functional settings.
  • Pharmaceutical clinical development experience and strong knowledge of ICH-GCP, ISO standards, regulatory requirements, and clinical study processes.
  • Proficiency with CTMS, eTMF, and clinical systems such as EDC, IRT, and ePRO.
  • Ability to work independently, dig into operational detail, collaborate across multiple departments, and escalate constructively when required.

These additional qualifications are preferred:

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with late-phase or pivotal studies, blinded clinical trials, oncology, or medical devices.
  • Experience working within a small or mid-sized sponsor environment, or broad CRO experience that provides a strong understanding of sponsor needs and decision-making.
  • Experience with budget tracking, invoice review, financial forecasting, and challenging out-of-scope vendor activity.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented, and quality-focused mindset, with the judgment to balance accountability and challenge with a collaborative, team-oriented style.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to thrive in a complex, fast-paced environment without being overly aggressive.
