Everforth ECS is looking for a Cloud DevOps Support Engineer to support a Department of Homeland Security cloud operations and platform team in a regulated, security-conscious environment in the Washington, DC metro area or remote. This role is not a hands-on infrastructure or security engineering position. You'll be the operational glue: keeping access requests, communicating outages, change requests, and schedule changes, documenting the processes and decisions that keep the team aligned, and knowing when to pick something up yourself versus hand it off to the right engineer. You'll work closely with security and platform engineers, learning the environment as you go, with the expectation that your role grows as your familiarity does.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Triage incoming requests, access, service outages, change requests, and route them to the right person or resolve them yourself when it's within your wheelhouse.
- Track and coordinate change requests: what's going in, what's going out, what approvals or coordination are needed before it happens.
- Support scheduling and coordination across the operations team, keeping changes, maintenance windows, and requests organized.
- Document processes, decisions, and recurring issues so the team has a clear record, and knowledge doesn't live in one person's head.
- Write and maintain SOPs, runbooks for common operational tasks, and troubleshooting steps.
- Manage user access requests, provisioning, and deprovisioning across cloud accounts and tools.
- Monitor system health and basic operational dashboards, flagging issues before they escalate.
- Support customer and internal support requests, setting expectations and keeping requesters updated through resolution.
- Know when something falls outside operational support, like infrastructure changes or security engineering work, and hand it to the right person rather than trying to solve it yourself.
Salary: $90,000 - $100,000
General Description of Benefits
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Must have US citizenship.
- Ability to obtain/maintain Public Trust.
- Minimum of 3 years general work experience.
- 3-5+ years of general IT, operations, or technical support experience.
- Comfortable working in a cloud environment (AWS preferred); hands-on infrastructure experience is not required.
- Strong communication skills, able to explain technical issues clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable triaging and prioritizing requests by urgency and impact.
- Experience working in a government or federal contracting environment preferred.
- Organized and detail-oriented, especially around access management, documentation, and change tracking.
