Senior Cloud Engineer | Azure | DevOps | Cardiff | Hybrid | Permanent
About The Company
Vivo Talent is recruiting on behalf of an organisation that has experienced rapid growth over the past nine months. As its technology needs continue to evolve, the organisation is investing in its cloud platform and modernising the way it designs, provisions and operates critical infrastructure. This is an opportunity to join a team focused on improving its cloud capabilities and enabling wider adoption of modern engineering practices.
About The Role
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Cloud Engineer with strong Microsoft Azure experience to help shape and deliver the organisation’s cloud modernisation programme. You will contribute to the design, implementation and optimisation of Azure environments, supporting the migration, re-platforming and re-provisioning of important infrastructure. The role combines practical engineering with opportunities to influence technical approaches and improve the way cloud services are delivered.
You will work with Infrastructure as Code, automation and DevOps practices to make cloud environments more consistent, reliable and maintainable. You will also help develop CI/CD pipelines and support containerisation strategies. This is a permanent, hybrid position based in Cardiff, suited to someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and collaborating with colleagues to deliver meaningful improvements.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will bring substantial practical experience working with Microsoft Azure and a sound understanding of cloud infrastructure design and operations. You should be confident building and managing Azure DevOps pipelines and applying Infrastructure as Code principles using Bicep, Terraform or both. Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, or comparable containerisation technologies, is also important.
Strong automation and scripting skills are essential, alongside the ability to approach technical problems methodically and deliver robust, repeatable solutions. You should be comfortable contributing across the cloud engineering lifecycle, from planning and implementation through to ongoing optimisation. Clear communication, sound judgement and a collaborative approach will help you work effectively with technical colleagues and stakeholders. A proactive interest in modern cloud technologies and continuous improvement will be valuable in this evolving environment.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will design, implement and optimise Azure cloud infrastructure in line with business and technical needs. You will contribute to cloud migration, re-platforming and re-provisioning initiatives, helping ensure that critical services are delivered through modern, well-managed environments. You will build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Bicep and/or Terraform, improving consistency and supporting reliable provisioning.
You will develop, maintain and enhance Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, helping teams automate the delivery of cloud services and applications. You will use scripting and automation to streamline deployments and operational workflows, reduce repetitive manual effort and support dependable outcomes. You will also contribute to containerisation approaches involving Docker and Kubernetes technologies, working with the wider team to support suitable platform solutions.
As a senior member of the engineering team, you will share knowledge, identify opportunities to improve cloud practices and help promote effective use of automation and DevOps principles. You will balance hands-on delivery with thoughtful technical input, keeping reliability, maintainability and the organisation’s modernisation goals in view.
Benefits
This is a permanent opportunity offering hybrid working in Cardiff. You will have the chance to play a meaningful role in a growing organisation’s cloud transformation, work with modern Azure and DevOps technologies, and contribute to the ongoing development of its cloud platform. Specific benefits and working arrangements can be discussed during the recruitment process.
Equal Opportunity
Vivo Talent and the hiring organisation are committed to fair and inclusive recruitment. Applications are welcomed from candidates with relevant skills and experience, regardless of background or personal characteristics. Selection will be based on role-related requirements, experience and suitability.
