Cloud Middleware Delivery Engineer

We are responsible for building and delivering cloud-based banking environments that are fully operationally ready, ensuring a seamless transition to Run teams and long-term stability of Avaloq platforms. We are looking for a DevOps Middleware Engineer to join our collaborative Cloud & Infrastructure Delivery Unit (APAC & UK). In this role, you will implement, configure, and deliver cloud-based environments, working closely with architecture and automation teams to transform approved designs into fully deployed, integrated, and production-ready platforms within defined project timelines. Cloud Platform Implementation & Delivery Build and deliver cloud-based Avaloq banking environments on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Implement infrastructure using Avaloq Environment Modeling (EM) technology, leveraging Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Install and configure middleware platforms and application environments as core components of the delivery Deploy and configure containerized middleware workloads on Kubernetes/OpenShift platforms Ensure environments are delivered in a consistent, automated, and repeatable manner aligned with Avaloq standards Support integration of middleware, application, and infrastructure components into a fully functional platform Deliver production-ready environments prepared for handover to Run/Operations teams Middleware & Application Platform Implementation Act as the primary owner for middleware layer implementation within delivered environments Install, configure, and deploy middleware and application server platforms (JBoss, WebLogic, Tomcat) Execute middleware deployments, upgrades, and migrations within project timelines Implement secure data transfer and integration mechanisms (SFTP, messaging systems) Ensure middleware configurations comply with security, performance, and operational standards Operational Readiness & Transition Validate delivered environments against operational, security, and compliance requirements Implement and configure monitoring, logging, and alerting capabilities Prepare and deliver handover documentation to Run/Operations teams Support go-live activities and stabilization phases Project Delivery Execution Execute delivery tasks in line with project scope, timelines, and quality expectations Work closely with architecture, automation, and project management teams Identify and resolve delivery blockers and technical dependencies Provide accurate progress tracking, effort estimates, and status updates Degree in Computer Science or IT, or equivalent professional experience Strong Linux knowledge (Windows is a plus) Experience with at least one cloud provider (Oracle preferred). Hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, Git, and Infrastructure as Code practices Experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift platforms and containerized workloads Experience with J2EE application servers (JBoss, WebLogic, Tomcat) Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, secure connectivity) Knowledge of secure data transfer (SFTP), SSL, and certificate management Experience implementing and integrating middleware and platform components What You Bring Strong hands-on delivery mindset with focus on execution and results Experience delivering cloud and middleware platforms in project environments Strong collaboration skills across multiple domains and regions Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple delivery activities Willingness to learn new skills and technologies and continuously improve technical expertise Excellent communication skills Very good English skills We realize that managing work life balance is a challenge we all face in our daily lives and in order to support with this we are pleased to offer hybrid and flexible working for most of our Avaloqers to maintain work life balance and still continue our fantastic Avaloq culture in our global offices.
