Cloud Native Engineer
Pexon RomaniaYour mission
As part of the Pexon Consulting group, we are building our new Tech Hub in Romania, where you’ll play a key role in developing modern, scalable backend systems and cloud-based solutions for clients across Europe.
Like all our engineers, Cloud Native Engineers must have a solid foundation in software engineering. We are not looking for pure administrators ("Click-Ops"), but engineers who treat infrastructure as code and embrace modern engineering practices. They understand how to abstract complex distributed systems and build scalable, secure platforms - tailored for both microservices and AI-ready workloads. Automation, reliability, security, and a continuous interest in emerging technologies like AI are core to their work.
Core Engineering skills:
- Software Lifecycle: Ability to manage CI/CD, testing, and deployment strategies from development to production.
- Architecture: Ability to design scalable systems, decompose microservices, and own API design.
- Programming & Logic: Mastery of core algorithms, data structures, scripting, and system design patterns.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to translate complex requirements into technical solutions and make pragmatic "build" vs. "buy" decisions.
Specialized skills (Cloud Native Engineer):
- Kubernetes and Container Orchestration: Deep understanding of Kubernetes internals (API server, Controller, Scheduler, Networking) and the ecosystem (Helm, CNI, CSI)
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Automation: Ability to define infrastructure declaratively (Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi) and establish GitOps workflows (ArgoCD, Flux)
- Observability & Reliability (SRE): Design of monitoring, logging and tracing solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) and understanding of reliability patterns (circuit breakers, retries)
- AI Workloads & Tooling (Plus): Passion for exploring AI concepts, such as deploying baseline RAG pipelines, vector storage, or LLM-backed services (e.g., via Python, LangChain, or LangGraph) onto cloud infrastructure
Your profile
- Minimum of 3-4 years of experience of hands-on experience in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, or Platform Engineering
- Solid understanding of major Cloud computing platforms (Azure is a strong advantage)
- Strong experience with modern CI/CD and containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Jenkins, GitLab CI)
- In-depth knowledge of container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes)
- High interest in AI technologies, with practical exposure to Python and an eagerness to learn/work with modern AI frameworks (e.g., RAG architectures, LangChain, AI agent workflows).
- Strong communication skills in English (German is a plus but not required)
