About the programme
Bloomsbury Football Foundation is on a mission to transform lives through the magic of football. Her Game Needs You, is our coach development pathway for women, built on the belief that every girl and woman in football deserves the chance to see herself reflected in a role model. This programme exists to close that gap and build a real route from loving the game to making an impact in the local community at grassroots level.
We impact 7,000 young people week, with community coaching at the centre of our approach. To us, a coach is a trusted adult and a role model for their players, helping them reach their full potential. 'Her Game Needs You' is built to ensure the cohort leaves feeling confident to coach any child, regardless of their ability or background.
Running through 2027, the programme delivers a mix of on-pitch and off-pitch CPDs, bringing coaches together with an impressive group of mentors, ambassadors and coach developers. Because football, and the young people we coach, need more women leading from the sidelines.
About the role
As a Mentor, you'll be a guiding presence for a small group of coaches on our Women’s Coaching Pathway, sharing your experience and helping them grow in confidence both on and off the pitch. You'll attend at least 4 of the 6 CPD sessions, help deliver 2 of them alongside our Head Coach Developer, and hold at least 2 one to ones with each of your coaches over the course of the programme. You'll also attend and deliver at any events we host, representing the programme and what it stands for.
This is a chance to shape the next generation of women coaches in grassroots and community football, drawing on your own journey and giving something back to coaches at the very start of theirs. This is our first cohort, so the relationships you build and the support you give will help set the standard for the programme going forward.

Key Responsibilities
Support Your Coaches
- Hold at least 2 one to ones with each of your coaches, checking in on their progress, confidence and development
- Be a point of contact your coaches can turn to between sessions
- Give honest, constructive feedback that helps your coaches grow
Attend & Contribute to the Programme
- Attend at least 4 of the 6 CPD sessions across the programme
- Assist in delivering 2 CPD sessions alongside our Head Coach Developer
- Feed back to our Head Coach Developer on how your coaches are progressing
Essential Criteria
- Has a strong understanding of the barriers women face in football
- An in-depth understanding of the grassroots and community football landscape, including the challenges facing women in coaching
- Strong alignment with BFF's values and a commitment to growing women's participation in grassroots and community football
- A recognised coaching qualification, UEFA C with 3-5+ years coaching experience at grassroots level across mixed ability and mixed ages
- Confident and up to date on safeguarding in youth sport, with an enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
- Able to attend 4 of the CPD sessions that will be on Saturdays in line with the delivery calendar
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK
Desirable Criteria
- Experience mentoring, coaching other coaches, or in a coach development role
- An existing network within the women's game
- Familiarity with FA coaching qualification pathways
- Experience working in the not for profit or social impact sector
