About MODE Global

MODE Global is a $4B+ multimodal transportation leader providing comprehensive supply chain solutions across North America. With services spanning truckload, LTL, parcel, intermodal, air, and ocean, we help businesses move what matters through technology, innovation, and strong partnerships.

At MODE, we believe great results come from great people who take ownership, build relationships, and work together to find solutions.

About the Role

Are you a relationship builder who enjoys solving problems, keeping things organized, and bringing people together to get results?

MODE Global is looking for a Portfolio Account Specialist to oversee and support a designated portfolio of customer accounts associated with our agent network and sales and operations teams.

In this role, you'll serve as a key connection between our agents, customers, and internal teams, helping ensure accounts stay healthy and issues are addressed quickly and effectively. From resolving billing disputes and payment discrepancies to monitoring past-due balances and identifying credit concerns, you'll take ownership of the overall account experience.

You'll work closely with teams across Billing, Collections, Credit, Operations, and Customer Service. While this role does not have direct reports, you'll provide leadership, guidance, and accountability to the people supporting your portfolio.

We're looking for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking the lead, even when working across multiple teams. If you enjoy building strong relationships, finding solutions, and making a difference in both the customer experience and financial performance, this could be a great opportunity for you!

What You'll Do

Manage Your Portfolio

  • Take ownership of the day-to-day health and performance of your assigned agent or customer portfolio.

  • Monitor account activity and regularly review aging reports to identify past-due balances, short payments, and outstanding billing issues.

  • Stay ahead of potential problems by identifying account trends and addressing concerns before they escalate.

Resolve Issues & Keep Things Moving

  • Investigate and resolve billing disputes, payment discrepancies, and account-related challenges.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for escalated accounting and billing concerns impacting agent customers.

  • Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to find timely, effective solutions.

Monitor Credit & Manage Risk

  • Identify customer accounts approaching or exceeding established credit limits.

  • Work closely with the Credit and Clearance team to evaluate account concerns, support credit decisions, and help prevent unnecessary service disruptions.

  • Balance customer relationships and service needs with financial responsibility and risk management.

Build Strong Partnerships Across Teams

  • Collaborate with Billing, Collections, Credit, Operations, and Customer Service to keep accounts running smoothly.

  • Work with Finance, Sales, Operations, IT, and customers to improve billing, payment, and reconciliation processes.

  • Provide guidance and direction to team members supporting your portfolio, encouraging accountability and follow-through.

  • Help identify opportunities to improve processes and create a more seamless customer experience.

Support Agents & Customers

  • Build strong relationships with agents and internal stakeholders, understanding their business needs and priorities.

  • Serve as a liaison between agents, customers, and internal departments to resolve challenges and maintain positive relationships.

  • Proactively communicate potential issues and work toward solutions that support long-term account health.

Reporting & Communication

  • Provide regular updates on account status, outstanding balances, potential risks, and resolution progress.

  • Prepare portfolio reports and account summaries for internal discussions and agent-facing meetings.

  • Clearly communicate account trends, concerns, and recommendations to the appropriate stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

  • 3–5 years of experience in account management, accounts receivable, collections, credit, customer service, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of accounts receivable processes, credit policies, billing, and dispute resolution.

  • Experience reviewing aging reports, financial documents, and account data to identify and resolve issues.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

  • The ability to lead through influence, build accountability, and bring cross-functional teams together to accomplish shared goals.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.

  • A proactive mindset and the ability to take ownership of challenges and see them through to resolution.

  • A customer-first approach while understanding the importance of financial responsibility and risk management.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with Salesforce and ERP or accounts receivable systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.

  • Familiarity with EDI, electronic payment and billing portals, and automated billing or cash application tools is a plus.

  • Previous transportation or logistics industry experience is strongly preferred.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain/Logistics, or a related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
