The CMHC multi-unit residential (“MUR”) analyst will be responsible for assisting the CMHC MUR Directors, via CMHC MUR submissions, credit applications and related support, including at times through direct member contact. You will be a part of our team to grow the size and profitability of the CMHC MUR book while minimizing loan risk, ensuring compliance with CMHC requirements and maximizing product penetration. A fast-paced and exciting environment in a high growth segment of our business will challenge successful candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting through analysis of MUR pro forma and financial operating data, and recommending appropriate courses of action for CMHC MUR lending matters. Ongoing tasks include, but not limited to:
    • Conducting necessary analysis and due diligence.
    • Liaising with CMHC and prospective borrowers during the information gathering and CMHC MUR insurance application processes.
    • Completing Credit Applications for submission to BCD.
    • Ensuring any questions or credit related issues are satisfactorily resolved.
    • Completing and/or reviewing all “Request - Certificate of Insurance” and Underwriting Binders before submission to CMHC.
    • Ensuring completion of annual reviews and according to CMHC requirements.
  • Managing many of the routine account operating issues encountered by our CMHC MUR Members, anticipating/recognizing Members’ needs, and proactively making product and service recommendations.
    Liaising with other MCU staff and outside product/service suppliers to meet the needs of our members.
  • Establishing personal goals and action plans to support the BBCs and Land Development & Construction business objectives.
  • Demonstrating an ongoing willingness to assume higher degrees of accountability and responsibility, leading to assumption of a position as a Relationship Manager
  • Business Banking, Cash Management or Business Credit position
  • Actively monitors and manages the profitability of Meridian’s relationships with a member in order to retain and maintain business.
  • Stay updated on all CMHC MUR policies and properly assess the impact on the Members and prospects of any policy changes.
  • Work closely with the Director CMHC MUR and Treasury relative to:
    • Establishing rates for CMHC-insured MUR fixed rate term mortgages
    • Hedging rates relative to CMHC-insured MUR term mortgages to be securitized
  • Keeps abreast of changes within the CMHC MUR industry and proactively identifies opportunities to improve the growth and development of the CMHC MUR portfolio by analyzing member needs, trends, and competitor offerings.

Education, Work Experience, and Professional Designations/Certifications:

  • Post-secondary education or related job training, with good knowledge of financial accounting and lending principles.

Salary Range: CAD $52,000.00 to $75,000.00 annually.

Compensation for this role is based on a combination of skills, experience, and internal equity. Candidates with stronger alignment to the role’s requirements may be placed higher within the range. This is a hybrid work opportunity.
