Commercial & Corporate Lawyer

Owing to the Balfour Meagher's continued growth and highly regarded reputation, we’re seeking an excellent Commercial Lawyer to join our already amazing team of experienced lawyers.

Whether you are:

a) a front-facing lawyer, who enjoys engaging directly with clients, referrers and business partners; and/or

b) a support lawyer who more prefers to work in the background, assisting team lawyers and clients, reviewing & drafting documents, providing advice & the like,

we have the role for you!

You will have demonstrated experience in reviewing, drafting and advising on various matters across general commercial and contracting matters, M&As, all types of structuring, property law matters and/or estate + business succession planning areas (yet Balfour Meagher is a true, full-service contemporary, commercial & corporate law firm).

About you:

• Minimum 5 years+ post-admission’s experience in either commercial, corporate, M&As, property, estate planning, business or several of those areas.
• Current Western Australian legal experience and are also practising/located in WA.
• Self-sufficient and semi-autonomous (e.g. at least computer-literate with Microsoft Office365 and modern electronic legal practice management systems).
• You strive for excellence in client service; including in any face-to-face meetings, online, telephone as well as contemporary, written communication skills.
• Relishes regular collegiate conferrals & mentoring as well as practical legal/contemporary business skills’ development - working with only experienced, senior lawyers and directors.

About the position:

You will be working on and regularly exposed to a large range of various, interesting and often complex/intric/hallenging:

> Commercial matters (letters of advice and contract reviews, bespoke drafting of contracts, agreements & deeds, employment and subcontracting, hire arrangements, loans and securitisation/PPSR/mortgages etc etc);

>Corporate (advisory & due diligence, substantial business and asset sales/purchases, large scale M&As (company & equity (shares & units sales)) transactions, business/asset/entity structuring and ownership, business succession e.g. shareholder, partnership and unitholder agreements, insurance-funded buy/sell option agreements etc);

> Estate planning of all types - from individuals through to to complex high-net worth family groups with multiple trusts, companies and/or international aspects;

> Property matters of all types including sales and purchases, options, leases/licensing, settlements and conveyancing, mortgages, caveats etc; and

> Niche advices and documentation on IP commercialisation & technology law; specialist healthcare and allied services; complex business real property-into-SMSF transactions, legal training & seminar providers etc.
