Love finding new commercial opportunities, diving into data, and seeing your work deliver real world results on the road? National Express Bus is looking for a Commercial Executive to join our Bus Commercial team in the West Midlands.

Reporting to the Commercial Systems Manager, you will sit right at the crossroads of commercial strategy, operational planning, and stakeholder engagement. From exploring B2B sales opportunities and supporting UK bus franchising projects to monitoring market trends, you will help us boost revenue and keep passengers smiling.

Where you will be based

This role is based out of NX House (Birmingham), with 3 days per week on site and the rest of the week from home.

What you will actually be doing

  • Support Commercial Growth: Assist the Commercial Manager in executing pricing, customer, and expansion strategies across our bus network.
  • Explore B2B Opportunities: Identify and pitch business to business sales opportunities with private organisations and local authorities around the West Midlands.
  • Represent the Brand: Represent National Express Bus in forums like the Bus Alliance, Bus Operator Group, and Enhanced Partnership meetings.
  • Deliver Clear Reports: Turn complex commercial findings into concise, actionable reports and compelling presentations for senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work alongside Network Planning, Marketing, and Operations to enhance performance and challenge legacy ways of working.

What we need from you

  • Market Awareness: Good understanding of the West Midlands and UK bus market, including commercial, tendered, and franchised frameworks.
  • Stakeholder Skills: Demonstrable experience communicating clearly with everyone from senior executives and local councils to frontline depot staff.
  • Project Delivery: Ability to manage multiple workstreams at once, keep projects on schedule, and coordinate cross functional groups.
  • Data & Digital Fluency: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word (or Google Workspace equivalents), with an understanding of or willingness to learn Tableau.
  • Commercial Drive: Strong analytical instincts with the motivation to spot growth angles and solve real operational challenges.

The perks of joining us

  • We look after our leaders with perks that make a real difference:
  • Free Travel: Free travel right across the network for you.
  • Peace of Mind: Solid company pension scheme and life assurance.
  • Wellbeing Support: Access to our Employee Assistance Programme and a private online GP service.
