About the role
Perigus Energy is seeking a Commercial Manager to lead the commercial analysis and optimisation of onshore wind, solar and battery storage projects across Ireland and the UK. Working across an advanced development pipeline approaching final investment decision (FID), you will shape project business cases, identify opportunities to improve value and lead the commercial work required to support investment approval. You will work closely with FID leads and colleagues across development, engineering, procurement, finance and power trading. Taking ownership of commercial workstreams, you will apply commercial judgement to identify and evaluate risks and opportunities, bring together project inputs and develop clear and robust investment recommendations. The role combines detailed financial analysis with commercial judgement and direct engagement with senior management and shareholders.
You’ll play an important role in:
Taking ownership of commercial workstreams including ongoing commercial appraisal and optimisation of projects, identifying opportunities to improve revenues, costs, risk allocation and investment returns.
Identifying and evaluating commercial, delivery and investment risks, ensure they are clearly understood and properly escalated.
Critically reviewing technical, commercial and financial inputs, challenging assumptions constructively and identifying where further analysis, validation or specialist input is required to support robust conclusions.
Assessing routes to market, including power purchase agreements, support schemes and merchant exposure, in collaboration with power trading colleagues.
Leading commercial analysis for auction participation, including bid economics, sensitivities and recommendations for approval.
Maintaining awareness of relevant market and policy developments and assessing their potential impact on project economics and assumptions.
Tracking project economics against investment requirements, identifying gaps and coordinating actions to address them as projects progress towards FID.
Supporting financing and lender processes to help ensure projects remain commercially robust and bankable
Preparing and presenting investment recommendations to senior management and shareholders, clearly explaining value drivers, risks, uncertainties and key decisions.
Guiding junior colleagues and improving the consistency and quality of commercial analysis across the team.
To succeed in the role:
Relevant experience in renewable energy commercial management, project investment or a closely related field.
The ability to work independently, determine what information is required, seek input proactively and maintain momentum across multiple workstreams.
Strong commercial judgement, including the ability to identify information gaps, recognise material and emerging risks and opportunities, assess their potential impact and recommend appropriate actions.
The ability to exercise sound judgement where information is incomplete, balancing uncertainty with the need to progress decisions and recommendations.
A strong understanding of electricity markets, revenue structures and routes to market, with experience in Ireland or the UK.
Strong practical financial modelling skills, including the ability to update and interrogate project finance models, assess returns and evaluate sensitivities.
Experience leading commercial work across multi-disciplinary teams and bringing complex inputs together within demanding project timelines.
The ability to translate detailed analysis into clear recommendations and present credibly to senior decision makers.
Experience across more than one of onshore wind, solar and battery storage would be valuable.
The opportunity
You will have direct influence over the investment cases for projects approaching construction, with exposure to two electricity markets and three technologies. This is an opportunity to combine analytical depth with commercial judgement and leadership, helping shape the investment decisions behind a growing renewable energy platform.
