Commissioning Expert

Summary

The Commissioning Expert coordinates and executes commissioning activities for large-scale greenfield and live data center projects. The role helps ensure that facilities, systems, and assemblies are planned, installed, tested, documented, and handed over in line with business and customer requirements. The position works across construction teams, contractors, equipment vendors, commissioning partners, and business operations.

Responsibilities

• Execute and track standards-based commissioning plans and schedules across multiple facilities.
• Coordinate commissioning activities with internal construction managers, business operations teams, general contractors, equipment vendors, subcontractors, and external commissioning agents.
• Oversee Factory Acceptance Testing activities.
• Prepare, coordinate, and maintain commissioning test procedures, testing schedules, logs, equipment checklists, and project documentation.
• Track commissioning project budgets and the progress of external resources.
• Monitor schedules and due dates against applicable customer contract requirements.
• Prepare comprehensive commissioning reports, including functional checklists, identified deficiencies, equipment operation and maintenance documentation, and recommendations for optimizing building operations.
• Provide project-based feedback to Owner Furnished Contractor Installed (OFCI) equipment vendors.
• Schedule and lead commissioning meetings.
• Support senior management in customer interactions and serve as a point of contact when required.
• Apply professional judgment to complex commissioning issues and recommend effective solutions.

Requirements

• Advanced professional experience in data center commissioning or a closely related commissioning environment.
• Experience coordinating and executing commissioning plans, testing activities, schedules, and documentation for complex facilities.
• Experience collaborating with construction managers, general contractors, equipment vendors, and other commissioning stakeholders.
• Ability to work on complex issues requiring in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.
• Experience preparing commissioning test procedures and technical reports.

Preferred Qualifications

• Significant data center commissioning experience.
• Leadership experience in a mission-critical environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

Work Model

Hybrid work model: 2 days per week in the office, with the remaining days working remotely.
