Commissioning and Field Service Engineer – Drives & Automation

Location: Field-based, Republic of Ireland. Flexible location with access to our Dublin, Cork or Galway offices.

Travel: Regular travel across the Republic of Ireland, with some international travel as required.

We are looking for a Commissioning and Field Service Engineer – Drives & Automation to join Schneider Electric.

This is a field-based role supporting customers across Ireland with the commissioning, service and technical support of our Industrial Automation solutions.

You will work closely with customers to diagnose technical issues, commission equipment and provide effective solutions across drives, PLCs and wider automation systems. The role combines customer-site work with home-based activities such as technical reporting, planning and remote technical support.

What will you do?

• Commission and service variable speed drives and Industrial Automation equipment at customer sites.
• Carry out fault finding, diagnosis and troubleshooting across drives, PLCs and associated control systems.
• Support drive installation, commissioning and system integration activities.
• Work with PLC, SCADA and networked automation systems.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on Schneider Electric equipment.
• Provide technical support to customers during planned and reactive service visits.
• Prepare technical reports and provide clear recommendations following customer visits.
• Support technical reviews, quotations and planning of customer work.
• Work closely with our wider Industrial Automation, sales and service teams to deliver the right technical solution for customers.

What are we looking for?

• Previous hands-on experience in a field service, commissioning or industrial automation environment.
• Experience working with variable speed drives / VSDs.
• Practical knowledge of PLCs and industrial control systems.
• Experience with fault finding and technical diagnosis.
• Knowledge of drive installation and commissioning.
• Understanding of network integration and ideally SCADA systems.
• Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with technical and commercial teams.
• Flexibility to travel regularly across Ireland and internationally when required.
• A valid driving licence.

What can you expect?

You will join a team supporting Schneider Electric customers across Ireland while working closely with our wider Industrial Automation organisation.

The role offers a mix of customer-site and home-based work, together with technical development and specialist product training. New engineers will receive the training required to work safely and effectively on our technologies, which may include specialist LV drives training in Vienna.

A company commercial vehicle will also be provided for the role.

For this Ireland based position, the expected pay range is EUR 63,200 - EUR 94,800 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives. The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the Ireland. Our pay ranges are determined by the local market.
